Bondi Beach

BONDI Bondi beach is perhaps the most famous beach in Australia if not the World. The glowing white sand, the cool breeze from the sea and the glorious whether make it one of the greatest tourist?s attractions in Australia. Everyone will tell you if you are in Sydney you have to go to Bondi Beach, and they are right, Bondi is one of the best experiences a tourist can have. History: Bondi Beach is located in the Area of Bondi, which is in Vaucluse, Sydney with an area population of about 10,000. Bondi which is originally an Aboriginal word means ?water breaking over rocks or noise of water breaking over rocks?. Between 1855 and 1877 the area was under private ownership and it was used to allow people to come and use the area as a leisure ground and picnic spot. Eventually the area of Bondi and the beach was taken over by ...

Review of Bondi Beach (Sydney)

Life's a beach! lol

Advantages: Nice to see
Disadvantages: too crowded

Bondi Beach is one of Australia's most famous beaches, located in Sydney it is a huge tourist destination. Bondo or 'Boondi' is an Aboriganal name meaning 'Water breaking over rocks' or 'noise of water breaking over rocks' It is a 1 kilometre stretch of lovely sandy beach but not as tranquil as I would have liked, in fact it was over crowded with holiday makers and a squeeze to find a spot to sunbathe. I would highly recommend the Coogee to Bondi Beach walk, this is great day out and a chance to experience some of the smaller beaches along the way. The Bondi Market is worth a visit, held each Sunday 10am 5pm, Bondi also offers a varity of coffee shops and eating places. Bondi is also a popular spot for Christmas day, although it does not offer free built in BBQ's like some of the other beaches it is bring your ...

Review of Bondi Beach (Sydney)

Beautiful Bondi Beach

Advantages: It's beautiful
Disadvantages: It gets ridiculously full in the hotter months.

When I was seven years old my not long widowed mother decided to take me and my sister to Australia for the summer to visit her brothers who'd both emigrated to Sydney about 10 years earlier. They had been 'Ten Pound Poms', just two of the many people who'd fled the miserable drabness of early 1960s Britain to build a new life in the sun. Mum still has photos and some jerky cine-film of my sister and me in our swimsuits (mine had a little frilled skirt on it - can you imagine?) running around a totally empty Bondi Beach, with no more than a solitary baffled looking dog-walker wrapped in coat and scarf watching us in the distance. We were, as she tells it, the only three people on Bondi's massive beach that day because no Australian would want to be on Bondi in the middle of the winter. This year we went back ? my mother and step ...
