I stayed next door at the Ganet Saini, that was a very basic hotel. My friends were here and I liked it much better. It has a touch of luxury.
The rooms are spacious, and the beds a big and quite comfortable. It is clean and tidy and has everything you need. On arrival there was a bowl of fruit waiting. The room was cleaned daily, usually in the afternoon (unlike next door where they wake you up to come in!)
The food was excellent, good variety and prepared with care. I ate there several nights with my friends. There is a huge buffet and considering you are in the dessert, supplies seemed plentiful.
The location is good too, you are on the beach, there are a few shops in the hotels locally and a short taxi ride (costing 10LE or £1) takes you to Dahab its self.
Dahab is famous for the windsurfing. I am into scuba diving, and the Red Sea has to be one of the best places to dive. I dived with Club Dahab (www.clubvass.com) they also do windsurfing. I can recommend them 100%. A friendly team, able to provide instruction and opportunity to all levels of both divers and windsurfers.
Dahab is less developed than Sharm, and although the shops and restaurants compete for your custom, they are less pushy than in the larger towns and cities. I liked eating out, by the sea with the warm summer wind and relaxed atmosphere.
