I had the pleasure of being able to travel with Swiss Air from Jo'burg to London, via Zurich, on my return from Zimbabwe. And when I say pleasure it really was. From the moment we stepped onto the plane the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful.
We we're shown to our seats and upon reaching them I realised that I had lost my Jersey. I informed the Stewardess who immidiately phoned down to the driver of the bus to check if I had left it on the bus by accident. As it happened I had dropped it on the way to our seats and another passenger gave it to Stewardess who then duly returned it to me. The way in which the staff treated this incident, which in most people's eyes would be very small and insignificant really impressed me.
Once in the air the I found the seats to be very comfortable and the food the best I have tasted on any airline, much better than British Airways, with whom I had flown out to Zimbabwe.
Upon arrival at London we were a little disappointed to find that one of our bags had not arrived. However, the staff at the Swissair lost baggage desk we're very helpful, taking all details very quickly and ensuring us that we would have our bag as soon as possible, if it hadn't arrived by the following morning we were to phone and find out what was happening. As it happened only a few hours after arriving back home, some 2 1/2hrs away from London, our "lost" bag had arrived. It transpired that when we had changed flight at Zurich, our bag had been left there, but then placed on the next flight.
An excellent service despite the one piece of lost baggage and they cost us less than half the price than if we had flown many of the major airlines
