Sion
Advantages: The breathtaking scenery Disadvantages: There aren't any!
Switzerland is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to, I would recommend going there, especially Sion. Sion Is situated in a valley between the mountains and is only about an hours drive from Geneva. It is in the region of Valais and so is French speaking. There are plenty of places to go and plenty of things to do. Sion is close to ski slopes and the swiss alps. There are also a wide range of shops and cafes/places to eat. Sions most ... ...in the valley, the view from them is stunning. The lifestyle is very laid back and the people are very friendly. Travelling is easy as you could set your watch by the trains. You may be put off by the prices, however, it isn't really that much more expensive than in England. ...

Ski with Christians the cheap way
Advantages: CHEAP, friendly atmosphere, not forced to partake in the prayer/worship meetings Disadvantages: Getting up early so as not to miss the bus to Saas Fee
Oakhall is a travel tour operation that takes you to many tour destinations. They are based in the UK. They are Christian based and do have prayer and worship meetings on the tour. BUT you don't have to attend if you don't want to. They also do CHEAP holidays. which made us decide to travel with them.
So a group of us, some Christian and others not so Christian went with Oakhall for a ski trip in Switzerland. Oakhall has their own tour buses but ... ...due to bad weather.
Oakhall employed their own ski instructors and this made it even cheaper to be taught how to ski/snowboard whichever you prefered.
The accomodation was based on Hostel form, but I was priviledged to share a room with a friend. Unfortunately no mixed sexes allowed to sleep in the room, unless you are married!! But hey, a cheap ski holiday, it was worth it.
The only extra thing that you had to do to make the holiday cheaper, ...

Lifestyle and Party in St. Gallen?
Advantages: nice old part of town | nice coffees and restaurants | safe Disadvantages: not that special for sightseeing and going out...
...I've planned to write about St. Gallen, the town next to that village I live in.
*** Generally about Switzerland ***
I hope, all of you have heard of Switzerland before. It's a neutral country situated in the middle of Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy and France. It's a little country, famous for it's chocolates, cheeses and watches. The population is about 7 million people, quite similar to London. Special for this country is that here are ... ...*** Generally about St. Gallen ***
St. Gallen is situated in the north-east of Switzerland, next (half an hour) to the boarders of Germany, Austria and Liechtenstein. It is also just a few minutes away of the Lake of Constance. The capital city Bern is around two hours away and the possibly known city Zurich is around one hour away. St. Gallen has a population of 70'000 people and is for Swiss conditions a big town. It's 670 meters over the sea. ...

Lucerne - a winter base for a Swiss experience
Advantages: Lovely scenery and a great base to explore more of this area Disadvantages: Expensive to eat out - but isn't all of Switzerland
My partner & I visited Lucerne for 7 days in February 2006 - what a glorious time to visit this delightful town. The air was cold and fresh, but our winter woolies, hats and gloves were enough to keep us snug and warm. But having difficulty walking, I was concerned that my exploring would be limited - I needn't have worried. The Swiss cater very well for visitors and treated me with patience and respect and although I couldn't do any skiing or strenuos ... ...stayed with relatives in the Lucerne suburbs and travelled into the town via the very efficient bus service.
The area was heavy with fresh snow when we visited and we found a cruise on the lake a must. Their famous mountain, Pilatus, looked majestic and eeire in the misty winter sun, whilst less well known peaks are a delight to explore. My favourite is Rigi, with its steep railway and cable car. We enjoyed a fabulous bowl of soup and crispy roll ...

Good Snow, Good View, Good Fun
Advantages: Easy to Reach Disadvantages: Expensive
I have been going to Verbier for the last 5 years and it is the most beautiful place.
It does tend to be a bit on the expensive side if you are eating out a lot. But if you go self catering the supermarket prices are not dramatically different to here and there is a large variety of fresh produce.
Drinks in a lot of bars can get pricy put places like Pub Mont Fort have a cheep happy hour. The Après Ski bars (especially the Farinet) can get very ... ...the atmosphere! Pub Mont Fort is always busy and tends to be where the instructors and more regular resort visitors go in an evening, however it does tend to get a little Smokey but this will change when the smoking ban comes into force.
If you want to avoid really long queue's I'd book you holiday around the 2nd or 3rd week in January if at all possible as this is just after the Christmas/New Year rush but before the Easter rush, the snow is awesome ...
