I went to Australia back in 2004 at Christmas (their summer) and mainly spent my 3 weeks in Brisbane.

However, I stayed for 3 days in Sydney with my Mum and Dad. We took the flight from Brisbane (it's still 2 hrs journey - although looks like 5 mins on the map!) and got the train to the heart of Sydney.

As you pull up to the station, you immediately see the Opera House, and it looks absolutely gorgeous in the bay. Although the bay itself (the bridge, opera house etc. seems alot smaller than on tv - and on Finding Nemo!)

Our hotel was located about 10 mins walk from the heart of Sydney, and as we walked through, I loved the contrast of the tall sky scrapers and the parks and gardens.

Past all the shops in the main area, there is a large park (really green) and its a pleasant walk. What I liked about Sydney is that although it is a city, the air is really fresh, and everything is neat and in order. Everything seems really modern.

The Sydney Bridge - You have a chance of walking over the top of the bridge - although it was too scary for me - it only cost about £50, which I thought was good value for money. Instead, we took a trip to one of its' towers, where you can look out over the city from the lookout. This also combines as a museum, so there is plenty to learn - I was 16 at the time, but I found the history interesting.

Anyhow, I would recommend this city to anyone, I think it is absolutely beautiful and would recommed it to anyone.
