This imposing stadium, purpose-built for the extremely successful Sydney Olympics, is a testament to the Australian policy of investing in their sporting future. From the moment you leave your chosen method of public transport you are able to make your way to the inviting entrance, perhaps stopping off on the way at one of the many refreshment stands. Once inside you follow the spiralling slopes until you emerge to find your seat amongst the 80,000+ others. The large TV screens add to the whole experience but I can't help feel there is a strange lack of atmosphere. Maybe this is a design flaw but, more likely, that I am too used to spending my Saturday afternoons alongside the fanatical Liverpool supporters at Anfield. One thing, however, that bears no comparison is the weather that is omni-present at the majestic Olympic Stadium.
