Travel..Dodge! Sydney Australia hotels. Advantages: Location and proximity to centre. Disadvantages: Everything about this hotel services. After Traveling around Australia for Months I have stayed in many hotels across the East Coast as you will discover in my Reviews. As more and more of us are traveling to Australia, I think its useful to see what are hotels we are assured of, are actually what we are getting after thousands of miles of traveling to our dream destination. We had four days in Sydney and booked here! what a mistake. We arrived at the Hotel after traveling from Bribane 2-hours away. We were very tired and wanted to get some sleep after traveling from 4-am we needed a little sleep. Our hotel reservations were to check in early, but to our dismay they didn't acknowledge that and said we were not allowed to check in till 3pm. Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour Advantages: Great location & Proximity to Darling Harbour nightlife & Monorail. Disadvantages: No view of the bridge or opera house. Have stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions & was very impressed, The consierge has all the information you could need & can make bookings for you at very short notice, The staff are all very helpful & the rooms appear to be well maintained. The food is of a very good standard & international. Most of the rooms to the front have good views although you probably wouldnt spend too much time there as there is so much to do in Sydney. Go to Sydney, Stay at the InterContinental Advantages: Luxurious rooms, great views, helpful staff, great location Disadvantages: Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. ...useful. Breakfast at the hotel is nice but expensive. Alternatively walk down the hill to Circular Quay and have a full English at one of the Al Fresco cafes, before going for a cruise around Port Jackson, or wherever your fancy takes you. Dinner at the InterContinental is also not cheap, but very good, seafood, steaks, etc., served with a smile, and any quirky extras you may require (Heinz Ketchup, English Mustard, etc.). The hotel could not have been more helpful with hairdos, bouquets, laundry, taxis, organising the reception, etc. But to put it into perspective, we are going back to Sydney in July, and will be staying at the InterContinental. Best place in Town Advantages: Location, staff, location, rooms, LOCATION Disadvantages: NONE !!! ...March we stayed in the Medina Grand on the Harbourside (Darling Habour) for 4 nights. We booked the accommodation over the internet (lastminute.com.au). On first arrival the staff were very friendly and escorted us to our room. The room (although not a sea view) was a one bedroom luxury apartment. (let's just say my wife fell in love with the room, and now wants the house decorated in the same style...) The whole apartment was decorated in Italian ... ...mirrors. The room contained original pieces of art and was decorated in different colours of Brown. Designer table and chairs (glass table with metal designed chairs) 2. Kitchen - State of the art kitchen, with oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge...... loads of kitchen utensils. 3. Bathroom - Huge. Marble bathroom, in Black and white. Room with a washing machine and tumble drier attached. Very powerful shower. 4. Quality Hotel in great location Advantages: Freindly Staff, Great Rooms Disadvantages: standard price is a little steep The Marriot is truly situated well within the city of Sydney. The only reason I went there is because I booked into a hotel somewhere else in the city, but it was filthy, dingey and there was no way I was going to stay there. The marriot had a few spare rooms, so we checked in. We were there in July (low season) and there was plenty of room to negotiate the rate with the manager. I would advise this in low season as we saved a packet. The staff ... ...even arranged for us to go to a big rugby league match. We did not have breakfast included, but that did'nt matter as there are loads of good places to go in the city for food. The rooms were spacious and unbeleivably comfortable. The health club was well equiped with high quality aperatus.
