...other minor fault with the Meriton is we were in a one bedroom apartment but they had placed the beds so that you couldn't close the bedroom door. The location of the hotel was in the centre of the shopping district and to get to the major attractions of Sydney it was a 20-40 minute walk. ...facilities in the room were excellent. There was the television, fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, dish washer, washer and dryer and an ironing board and iron. There was also a gas hob which i decided not to risk trying. The apartments were very clean, especially the bathroom which had a sink, shower and toilet and plenty of cupboard space in which to put your toiletries. Advantages: Close to Central Station and within walking distance of most attractions.
Disadvantages: No views.

My husband and I recently spent four days at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at how near the hotel is to Central Station. There is no need to get a taxi, it took 5 minutes to walk. The hotel is in an old listed building, which is decorated in the Art Deco style. Our room was quite small but was clean and had everything you would expect from a four star hotel. The only downside was that we did not have a view, but this didn't really bother ...

The Marriot is truly situated well within the city of Sydney. The only reason I went there is because I booked into a hotel somewhere else in the city, but it was filthy, dingey and there was no way I was going to stay there. The marriot had a few spare rooms, so we checked in. We were there in July (low season) and there was plenty of room to negotiate the rate with the manager. ...even arranged for us to go to a big rugby league match. We did not have breakfast included, but that did'nt matter as there are loads of good places to go in the city for food. The rooms were spacious and unbeleivably comfortable. The health club was well equiped with high quality aperatus. The Stamford Grand North Ryde came up trumps on both accounts, but in endeavouring to keep my travel budget down and having forked out nearly £700 for a flight, all the agent websites were way too expensive. Stayed at the Saville in April 2007. I had heard mixed reports about it so was a bit apprehensive. The studio apartment was very well equipped with washer & dryer, dishwasher, microwave, full oven & grill and 2 TV's as well as DVD player and hi-fi. The lighting was a bit low especially in the bathroom, but on the whole the room was very comfortable and elegantly decorated It was Easter weekend and there was quite a lot of noise on the first night ...
...no problems. The staff were polite but a little distant, and the concierge although helpful was a bit unforthcoming with information. We had to push him for more details than he seemed prepared to give. The location is great, right in the centre on George Street, the main drag up to Circular Quay and the Rocks, and just off the main shopping area.
