Great location to explore Sydney
Advantages: Location, Large Rooms, Great Views Disadvantages: Very Pricey, Restaurant and Room Service Expensive
I stayed at this hotel whilst on a round the world trip in October. The Sheraton Darling Harbour is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour from the airport depending on traffic, we had transfers included in our holiday so im not sure how much a cab would cost, but id imagine they have set tariffs from the airport to Sydney itself.
This hotel is in a great location just outside the city centre, within 5 minutes walking distance and is situated directly ... ...situated a very short walk away if you didnt fancy the 5 minute walk into the centre. The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. There is a daily maid service and I found all staff to be courteous and polite. The bathroom was large, clean and well maintained. There is no pool at this hotel which was a shame, but there is a gym and a nice restaurant located off the main foyer. The reception offer a postal service for those wishing to send postcards ...

Quality Hotel in great location
Advantages: Freindly Staff, Great Rooms Disadvantages: standard price is a little steep
The Marriot is truly situated well within the city of Sydney. The only reason I went there is because I booked into a hotel somewhere else in the city, but it was filthy, dingey and there was no way I was going to stay there. The marriot had a few spare rooms, so we checked in. We were there in July (low season) and there was plenty of room to negotiate the rate with the manager. I would advise this in low season as we saved a packet.
The staff ... ...even arranged for us to go to a big rugby league match. We did not have breakfast included, but that did'nt matter as there are loads of good places to go in the city for food.
The rooms were spacious and unbeleivably comfortable. The health club was well equiped with high quality aperatus. Next time that I'm in Sydney (if there is a next time) I will certainly go out of my way to stay there. ...

TWISTING BOTH WAYS IN SYDNEY
Advantages: Superb service, good facilties, excellent food, reasonable prices Disadvantages: Not in the city, I was there on business
...outdoor heated pool. The Stamford Grand North Ryde came up trumps on both accounts, but in endeavouring to keep my travel budget down and having forked out nearly £700 for a flight, all the agent websites were way too expensive. So I did what I quite often do and tried to dig out the chains website, who unwaveringly didn't fail to let me down. A little check with our own "helencbradshaw" and one of my colleagues assured me that my chosen destination ... ...in 1995, and owned by Stamford Land Corporation Ltd, one of Singapores best known public companies, Stamford hotels and resorts have a range of hotels and resorts in key cities in Australia and New Zealand, with plans to expand in Asia and South America.
Their properties are 4.5 and 5 star outlets, some suites and some hotels.

Not the best
Advantages: It was ok Disadvantages: Impolite, rude and bad mannered staff, not the best hostel regards to the quality.
...arriving in Sydney to return home as I had received some bad news regarding two of my family members. So we rearranged a number of our plans to ensure we could get a flight earlier and so that we could still do everything we wanted to. We booked ourselves into Home using an online website which we had used before and that generally is cheaper than other comparison websites and cheaper than going directly to the hotel/hostel. We arrived in Sydney ... ...around the corner to get to the hostel. The location of the hostel wasnt fantastic, but it was around from Central Station and it it was only a short walk into the city centre which was useful and meant we didnt have to spend money on public transport. On arrival at the hostel - it didnt look much from the outside, but I was openminded. How to backpack in style.
Advantages: A perfect place to start your time in Australia!!!! Disadvantages: None
...I ended up staying at Wake Up for 3 months and had the best time. The staff were brilliant and always willing to help whether its finding a job, apartment, tourist advice or providing entertainment. The rooms are bright and clean and the bathrooms were always perfect. You can book double rooms, triple or rooms for up to 6 people.The food was fine with a wide range of options and the drinks cheap - very cheap. The bar always had different things going ... ...the staff would do anything to accommodate. My 3 months at Wake Up were exactly what I needed to set me up the the rest of my time in Sydney. I made some amazing friends and we always went back to the Side Bar for a fun night out. ...
