Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour Advantages: Great location & Proximity to Darling Harbour nightlife & Monorail. Disadvantages: No view of the bridge or opera house. Have stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions & was very impressed, The consierge has all the information you could need & can make bookings for you at very short notice, The staff are all very helpful & the rooms appear to be well maintained. The food is of a very good standard & international. Most of the rooms to the front have good views although you probably wouldnt spend too much time there as there is so much to do in Sydney. Great stay in a Sofitel Advantages: Lovley room, great value room service, central location Disadvantages: Bath was to small, Price ...hotel break away in the Sofitel for four nights as our Christmas present -------------------Our arrival-------------------- We arrived into Sydney from Bali, but arrived at the domestic terminal as we changed at Darwin in the early hours of the morning. We jumped in a taxi straight outside the airport. Taxis appeared to be plentiful which can be rare at airports sometimes. The taxi driver instantly offered us two routes to get to the hotel. These ... ...in any hotel room. In Sofitel rooms you slept with a duvet underneath you as well as on top. This helps make it extra comfy. One thing I also find in hotels is that you don't always get enough pillows and have to call and wait a long time to get a couple of extra ones, However the extra pillows were there waiting for us in the wardrobe upon arrival. Within the room you are given a fine coffee/tea making facility. This is located in a cupboard. Best place in Town Advantages: Location, staff, location, rooms, LOCATION Disadvantages: NONE !!! ...March we stayed in the Medina Grand on the Harbourside (Darling Habour) for 4 nights. We booked the accommodation over the internet (lastminute.com.au). On first arrival the staff were very friendly and escorted us to our room. The room (although not a sea view) was a one bedroom luxury apartment. (let's just say my wife fell in love with the room, and now wants the house decorated in the same style...) The whole apartment was decorated in Italian ... ...mirrors. The room contained original pieces of art and was decorated in different colours of Brown. Designer table and chairs (glass table with metal designed chairs) 2. Kitchen - State of the art kitchen, with oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge...... loads of kitchen utensils. 3. Bathroom - Huge. Not the best Advantages: It was ok Disadvantages: Impolite, rude and bad mannered staff, not the best hostel regards to the quality. ...arriving in Sydney to return home as I had received some bad news regarding two of my family members. So we rearranged a number of our plans to ensure we could get a flight earlier and so that we could still do everything we wanted to. We booked ourselves into Home using an online website which we had used before and that generally is cheaper than other comparison websites and cheaper than going directly to the hotel/hostel. We arrived in Sydney ... ...around the corner to get to the hostel. The location of the hostel wasnt fantastic, but it was around from Central Station and it it was only a short walk into the city centre which was useful and meant we didnt have to spend money on public transport. On arrival at the hostel - it didnt look much from the outside, but I was openminded. How to backpack in style. Advantages: A perfect place to start your time in Australia!!!! Disadvantages: None ...I ended up staying at Wake Up for 3 months and had the best time. The staff were brilliant and always willing to help whether its finding a job, apartment, tourist advice or providing entertainment. The rooms are bright and clean and the bathrooms were always perfect. You can book double rooms, triple or rooms for up to 6 people.The food was fine with a wide range of options and the drinks cheap - very cheap. The bar always had different things going ... ...the staff would do anything to accommodate. My 3 months at Wake Up were exactly what I needed to set me up the the rest of my time in Sydney. I made some amazing friends and we always went back to the Side Bar for a fun night out. ...
