Great location to explore Sydney
Advantages: Location, Large Rooms, Great Views
Disadvantages: Very Pricey, Restaurant and Room Service Expensive
I stayed at this hotel whilst on a round the world trip in October. The Sheraton Darling Harbour is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour from the airport depending on traffic, we had transfers included in our holiday so im not sure how much a cab would cost, but id imagine they have set tariffs from the airport to Sydney itself.

...situated a very short walk away if you didnt fancy the 5 minute walk into the centre. The rooms are very spacious and nicely decorated. There is a daily maid service and I found all staff to be courteous and polite. The bathroom was large, clean and well maintained. There is no pool at this hotel which was a shame, but there is a gym and a nice restaurant located off the main foyer. The reception offer a postal service for those wishing to send postcards ...

Sydney Harbour Marriott
Advantages: 2 min walk to Circular Quay, great views of Opera House & Bridge
Disadvantages: None, would definately stay there again on my next visit

Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour
Advantages: Great location & Proximity to Darling Harbour nightlife & Monorail.
Disadvantages: No view of the bridge or opera house.
Have stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions & was very impressed, The consierge has all the information you could need & can make bookings for you at very short notice, The staff are all very helpful & the rooms appear to be well maintained.
The food is of a very good standard & international.
Most of the rooms to the front have good views although you probably wouldnt spend too much time there as there is so much to do in Sydney.

Travel..Dodge! Sydney Australia hotels.
Advantages: Location and proximity to centre.
Disadvantages: Everything about this hotel services.

We had four days in Sydney and booked here! what a mistake.
We arrived at the Hotel after traveling from Bribane 2-hours away. We were very tired and wanted to get some sleep after traveling from 4-am we needed a little sleep. Our hotel reservations were to check in early, but to our dismay they didn't acknowledge that and said we were not allowed to check in till 3pm.

Star City Casino/Hotel
Advantages: Brilliant View, close to city
Disadvantages: Very expensive....not worth the money
...splash out and stay at Star City.....which is right in the heart of Darling Harbour in the city.
After arriving at the airport we had our first bad experience in that they make you PAY for the airport Shuttle bus...not just any shuttle bus, the actual star city one! So they make their guests pay to get to the hotel....In my opinion, when you pay such high prices to stay somewhere nice, you would think the shuttle bus is part of the service!
So ...
...hotel only to find they CHARGE their own guests $40 per NIGHT to park at the hotel....yes the hotel that you are a guest at and have paid $300+ per NIGHT to stay at! For these prices, you would expect a really nice room, we stayed there for 4 nights so it wasn't cheap and to be honest, the room we had was no different from a Travelodge room..it was very ordinary! You soon realise that you are paying for the view and the proximity to the city.
