Recently i went on holiday to Portugal, in the agricultural north. I had to fly from Heathrow (London) to Porto (Portugal).
I had never flewn with TAP (Air Portugal) before, and when i saw the plane in the terminal i was slightly worried as the planes are quite small and look a bit delicate!
When checking in, the TAP staff were really friendly and helpful and full of reassurance. As i am a very nervous flyer, they even radioed the cabin crew on the plane to look out for me!
The flight left the airport dead on time, and on the return flight we actually landed about 15 mins earlier than expected even though we had to circle heathrow about 4 times whilst waiting for a landing slot!!!(this must be a miracle!)
Once on board and waiting to take off, i was quite impressed with the interior of the plane. Although not incredibly spacious, the seats were comfortable, there was adequate leg-room, and the interior decor was light and airy. I was very impressed with the drop down electronic screens above the chairs that show safety information and light entertainment films (although i thought the films of people having sporting accidents was a bit off key!!)
On screen you are also shown your flight path, progress made, and remaining length of flight which is good for someone like me who just wants the flight to hurry up and end!
About half an hour after take off you are served a meal, which is good really considering the flight takes just over an hour and a half. Although the food was not to the best of standards it was hot, filling and there is a choice in what you have. The puddings are delicious which is unusual for economy class plane food!
Both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are free, and you can ask for as much as you like.
The cabin crew are also really good with little kids and provide them with puzzles, playing cards and little plane toys. They also take the time out to talk to the kids which i thought was a nice touch, as a lot of airlines cabin crews tend to view children as a bit of a bother.
I found Air Portugal (TAP) to be an excellent all round airline, especially on economy class, and will definately use them again.
