Well, after yet another successful shopping trip to TK Maxx, I figured I'd write a review on the store - after all, it is my favourite!
TK Maxx is a bit of an 'Aladdin's cave' really - you never know what you may find hidden amongst the vast amount of products within the store. Envisage 'department store meets jumble sale' & you might be getting the idea...
You see, TK Maxx stocks everything from ladieswear, meanswear, childrenswear, accessories, & footwear, to pans, towels & other homewares. Throw in the seasonal items, such as Easter bunnies, gardening & Santa's, & you've pretty much got everything covered. Take one or a few of each product (mostly designer names/labels), throw it on a rack or a shelf, & bingo!...the TK Maxx appeal has been achieved.
It's one of those stores where you really have to get in amongst the stock, have a good rummage & you may well just come up with a gem. The downside is that you'll probably find something you absolutely love, but due to the low stock levels of each item they won't have it in your size, or the colour you want. (And it's no good asking if they have any others in stock....they may or may not, but who knows since it's such a hit & miss shop?! Chances are there will be another one of the product SOMEWHERE in the store, but good luck finding it...).
TK Maxx originated in America (& can be found there under the name of TJ Maxx), & as such I find a lot of the products have obviously been shipped straight over from the States (& no doubt flogged to us at a dramatically increased price, even though that price seems cheap to us...). I've lived in the States & recognise a lot of the brand names (especially in the homewares), although 'American style' doesn't really appeal to me.
I buy something in this store at least every week or two. I have bought everything from clothes to shoes to vases to oven trays to colanders to toys...and the list goes on....! My latest buys have been a summer skirt (which doesn't actually fit yet, but hopefully will soon!) which was a bargain at £4.89 in the sale, & a Burberry summer dress for a mere £14.99! Happy days!
One point to remember re. the prices is that the current VAT reduction will be made at the till, making the price you see slightly less (VERY slightly less...what on earth is the point of this VAT reduction business...?!).
So, the point is - if you have a branch in your town & haven't visited yet...WHY NOT?!
(Also published on dooyoo under the same username).
I find that you have to have a lot of time to go rummaging through the TK MAX bargain rails.....like you say though - a bit of an aladdin's cave in that you never know what you might find - I've picked up a few bargains in the past but very rarely go these days, I prefer to shop online and get my bargains delivered to my door - well reviewed - Catherine x :)
