Advantages: Good view Disadvantages: not currently open
The Moscow TV tower was in the headlines in the summer when there was a disasterous fire there which had included loss of life. I was fortunate to have been up there in June not only to see the vierw but also to have a meal in the restaurant. Service was very good and the food also, especially when considering the price; the meal came to about eight pounds which is exceptional value.

The entrance to the Tower was very 'Soviet' with an exhibition of gifts from other 'towers' such as the BT Tower in London. I thought it was not very promisinmg when tyhey would ot take credit cards even though there was a visa sign at the cash desk for entry into the lifts.
I thought it rated much more highly than the Rainbow Arch in St Louis as far as comfort was concerned and like that it felt a bit dated.
I hope the Moscow TV Tower will open as it was a wonderful view over the city ands the surrounding countryside. It is still there and lit up at night but I am told there are not as many lights as there used to be.
Advantages: Great views of Stuttgart and surrounding area Disadvantages: None, unless you suffer from Vertigo
Located on the outskirts of Stuttgart the Fernsehturm offers the best views in all of Stuttgart.
For only 3? you can go to the top of this 150m high tower from where you can see the city of Stuttgart and surrounding area. There is also a reasonably priced café/bar, which is well worth sitting in and enjoying the view without the wind blowing you around.
To make the experience better, get the U-Bahn 15 from the city centre and you travel up the hills seeing great views on an old style tram. This terminates at the tower and from there it's just a 5min walk. Alternatively, get the U-Bahn 7 which is quicker but less scenic. Get off at Waldau or Ruhbank station for the tower.
If possible, visit the Fernsehturm twice, once in the day to sample the view but then again at night. Sitting in the bar watching the lights of the city is ...
Advantages: Clean, good shopping, good museums Disadvantages:
Hamburg as a city is often sadly overlooked by people, who pass throguh it en route to somewhere else. The city is vibrant, clean, and with a great deal happening in it. There are countless bars for the young, and the shopping is amongst teh best in Germany. Away from the centre, it is possible to be out in the countryside in under 40 minutes, with the Lüneburger Heide to the south and the delights of Schleswig-Holstein to the North. Mönckebergstrasse offers a great variety of shops, as does the area around the Alster. Public transport is very good, with the U, S and A Bahn services being very reliable, and reasonably priced, and amazingly there is even 1st and 2nd class! For a great view head up the Fernsehturm (TVTower), and for great food there are some great restaurants at varying price tags. For onwards travel the trains are ...
Advantages: Great place to visit, looks great, day or night, low price Disadvantages: Often Busy, Long waits
August 2006, I was lucky enough to be in Shanghai with a friend, and the Oriental Pearl Tower is certainly an attraction I am glad I didn't miss. The Oriental Pearl Tower is a TVtower which is a major advertising point for the skyscraper filled city, it has a unique design, is one of the world?s tallest towers and is certainly an alluring jewel against the often foggy backgrounds.
The oriental Pearl Tower does not possess a typical plain TVtower look. Instead it has a beautifully designed and lit exterior, whether you observe it in daylight or at night when it is lit by a fascinating variety of colours, it stands out from the other structures of the Pudong district.
Upon arriving at the tower, approaching the gates is certainly a difficult experience because of all the tourists (including yourself) with their heads in the air ...
