This is my idea of 'Heaven'. Having a lazy day-off from work, sprawled in front of the box watching TV TRAVEL SHOP. I lay there, on the settee, and dream away........ where off to next? - I ponder!
TV Travel Shop is available for viewing on SKYDIGITAL. Broadcasting on channels 631 and 632(TV TRAVEL SHOP 2) 24 hours a day, seven days a week! Both channels offer a great deal of information on all major holiday destinations around the world. Each destination hosts half hour programme slots, showing scenery, a little culture and types of accomodation available in the different resort locations.
.......If my husband could see me know, he'd hit the roof and make me switch over onto probably the sport channels.
Basically the reason why, about 5 years ago while he was a student at Leicester University, he received many phonecalls from me being away from home and seeing each other only at the weekends - I missed him! One afternoon, I was bored - layed on the settee, surfing the channels with the remote control when I came across TV TRAVEL SHOP. They were advertising a fabulous saving of £1000 per couple with half price travel insurance for a 2 weeks All Inclusive holiday in the Dominican Republic. Spoke to a very helpful member from customer services, told her the dates I wanted to travel and the accomodation that I'd seen. She told me that she would check this information out for me and phone me back straight away with a quote for the full balance. Half an hour later, the phone rang.............
........put the phone down, it was booked! We were off to the Dominican Republic staying at the 'Bahia Principe' - the exact hotel I wanted! The reason being for this was because the year before when we went to Mexico, we stayed at the 'Bahia Principe', Tulum - the same hotel chain and we knew what to expect as the first hotel was excellant!
So that day, he received a phonecall from an ecstatic little me who couldn't wait to break the news of our next holiday together. He was a little annoyed as I'd not consulted with him first, but he soon got over it! One thing he did say to me, which I remember, but choose to ignore, was that I've not to book another holiday without his saying so - Prune!!!
The following years I did as he wanted. That was for us both to go to the travel agents on the 'High St' 'together'. But not last June........
While at home again, he was at work - I decide to watch TV TRAVEL SHOP!
This time another wonderful offer stating that 'this price could not be beat' and that it's not available on the 'High St'. A Seven Night All Inclusive 'Wonders of the Nile Cruise' with Free Insurance - a saving of around £700 per couple. I thought WOW! What a nice suprise this would be for his birthday next October (2003). Again I phone the friendly Customer services on 0870 60 60 747 and in a matter of 20 minutes the holiday was booked!
It was suppose to be a surprise for his birthday this year but 'Me' being 'Me'. I kept it a secret for 4 months - now that's long for me! I handed him the booking confirmation with his birthday card last October, saying "that's your pressie for next year".
He was over the moon, but asked if I had remembered what he told me about 'consulting him first' - who cares!
Right, some basic information about TV TRAVEL SHOP/TV TRAVEL SHOP 2. This company is an independant travel company (ABTA Registered) who will shop around and find you the cheapest price from the many different travel agents around. Eg, Airtours, Cosmos, JMC, Thomsons, Kuoni, etc...... If there's a particular holiday you've seen in a holiday brochure, don't worry if you don't see it advertise on TV TRAVEL SHOP, give them a bell - they are sure to find you the 'Best Deal in Town'.
TV TRAVEL SHOP have a low deposit scheme of £50 per adult - this is to be paid at the time of booking, followed by the rest of the deposit a month later. This is brilliant if you are still waiting for 'Payday' and can't quite afford a full deposit!
Payment by credit or debit card is accepted when booking over the telephone. Although credit card payment by American Express, Visa an Matercard will incur 2% surcharge. Cheques are also accepted and should be made payable top 'TV TRAVEL SHOP LTD'.
As usual you are reminded that full balance is due 10 weeks before date of departure - after that your tickets are posted out to you.
TV TRAVEL SHOP also have their own website - www.tvtravelshop.com. I find this very useful as there is a section titled 'MY TV TRAVEL SHOP'. Click on this, enter your Booking Reference number and Postcode and your holday booking is available for your own viewing.
You can even pay online through 'MY TV TRAVEL SHOP'. Every month after 'Payday', I click on this and pay off some balance - A Brilliant Idea!
In the past, on several occaisions, when the TV TRAVEL SHOP phone line is busy you are placed in a queue - 40 minutes, I was once holding! And believe me, as well as a lengthy and costly phonecall it is pretty damm annoying if you are an impatient little madam like me, lol
But, all things brilliant have their imperfections. This service I would ideally recommend!

...book, look no further than TV Travel Shop and TV Travel Shop 2.
TV travel shop is available for viewing on Sky, Sky digital, Cable and On digital.
I am not to sure about TV travel shop 2, I think at the moment it is only available on Sky digital, but I may be wrong.
Both channels offer a great deal of information on destinations all around the world, not just your usual Europe based holidays, and they can offer you some great discounts as well ... ...skiing holidays for instance.
TV travel shop 2 is slightly different in the way that it presents its programs, instead of showing different destinations in half hour slots, it dedicates two hours at a time to individual tour companies. During this time any number of resorts, destinations and holiday accommodation will be shown, giving a well varied look at what is on offer.

"Quick give them a ring"………too late there is only an answer phone on.
Sunday morning arrived and armed with details of what we wanted I endeavoured to try and see how much our holiday would cost.
Sitting for ages on a national call rate number was not something I was looking forward to but after giving a few details I was given a landline number to ring back on. The customer service representative could not ... ...point of, when I had to contact our friends to confirm some prices and resorts with them, ringing me back and spending the next 40 minutes checking various flights, destinations, resorts and prices.
Working from exactly the same brochure as I had in front of me, Airtours, the resort we wanted was confirmed, the flight on the day we wanted confirmed and the price.
Well I sat there totally gobsmacked, it had saved us £800 and our friends £600 on ...

I frequently use tv travel shop to find my perfect destination, and at the perfect price! you can search multiple destinations and multiple dates if you are free to travel whenever.
The web site is clear to use, i always come up with bargains, and unlike some sites they are not all unamed accomodation or allocated on arrival!
The format the site uses is not that different from that used in the travel agents - you can look for holidays by star basis ... ...of flexiblilty.
When you've done your search you can select the holiday you are interested in and they will then contact the tour operator to check availability, something which proves very frustrating with the likes of teletext. You then decide if this is what you want or you can change flights, get more info on the hotels/resorts etc.. and in most cases you can book then and there online! You can also search for flights only, hotel only or go ...

...until I switched on to Tv travel shop on cable I watched it for a while and was suprised at there competetive prices and discounts on certain holidays.
I booked a great 2 week holiday to the USA and got it over £200 pound cheaper than the high street and to top it all I also got free insurance and numerous other discounts.
The Guy on the phone who did call me back within the time specified done his company justice, at no time did he pressure me ...

...recently booked a holiday with TV Travelshop which is on Sky TV and On Digital and a few Cable Companies as well. When I telephoned there call centre I was very inpressed by their customer service, and also understanding the needs of the customer. I told them what sort of holiday I was looking for and they took all my details and said they would check all of the major tour operators, as they are independent and not linked to any of the tour operators ... ...to go on holiday and does not want to be pushed into a certain brand. The TV Travelshop are totally unbiased in there views and use all of the major tour operators as well as a few smaller companies who dont normally get a look in in the high street. ...

given them more money, they would not accommodate us at all. Fortunately, we had taken out the excess policy on the free insurance and got most of our money back. In light of my previous experiences with Thomsons I was disappointed with their attitude, but taking into consideration all the plus points in comparison with other operators, I am sure we will book with them again.
Our holiday to Salou in 2001, went relatively smoothly, save for an error with the booking, we paid for a suite and were initially allocated two separate rooms, although I wouldn't rush back to either the hotel or the resort in a hurry.
