We recently returned from The Marriot at Taba Heights, and on the whole had a good stay. The rooms are spacious, and well set out in well cultivated grounds.
There is great scuba diving on the private beach, and good coral to swim amongst about 100m off the beach, just look for the dark areas. If you walk a mile up the beach towards the left hand side as you face it, you will come across a wooden pier which juts out to sea, the best coral is all round there. Turtles, and snake-fish are all all in abundance.
Other than the snorkling, the other fun thing outside the hotel is the watersports centre. It is possible to walk along the beach, takes about 1/2 hour, but we were haselled by builders the whole way, felt quite intimidated. Better to take the free coach that leaves the reception on a regular basis. Paragliding was 15 pounds for two.
The meals were average, distinctly average. Usual fare, don't expect bacon for breakfast, it is beef bacon. Better to go early. There are quite a few bars situated throughout the hotel, the best is below reception, the best cocktail was called a suffering bastard, strong, and citrusy, but about 5 pounds a go...
Take lots of books, they sell used books in the hotel shop, but they are very expensive, and there's a limited choice, good gold shopping, get to know the staff for the best service. Camel trips are just outside the hotel, walk to the other hotels on the beach for drinks and food. Make sure you buy gifts from the bedoin kids at the watersports centre, very polite, excellent English, lovely to talk to.

Advantages: Guaranteed sunshine. The private beach is safe, clean and half empty and the staff are lovely. Disadvantages: The dreaded Pharoah's curse! I didn't meet anyone who had not suffered from a stomach upset.
