Tagbilaran (Bohol)

Advantages: Friendly people, much to "discover".
Disadvantages: Tell me if there are!

...Fifty five kilometers northeast of TAGBILARAN CITY, the provincial capital of Bohol, is one of the most famous natural attractions of the Philippine archipelago. Once, a total of 1,268 "CHOCOLATE HILLS" grew up from corals. Two were "stolen by men", carrying away sand and gravel for road repair in Carmen. Then, another of the hills wer fount partly "eaten" of fed, rather to concrete producing machines ..... ignoring that the National Committee on Geological Services has declared Chocolate Hills in 1988 as a National Geological Monument. Due to the road conditions, the approximate travel time between Tagbilaran and CARMEN would be about 90 minutes or more. After 213 steps up the hill, one can reach the observation deck on one Hill - with exquisite panoramic views - that is Chcoloate Hills as far as they eyes can see... Read review

Advantages: Easy to tour the Island in One Day
Disadvantages: Not really recommended for Children

.... The beach resort is located on to the white fine sand and the clear blue ocean. It is nice to relax, but is not recommended if your have children as you are approximately thirty minutes drive from Tagbilaran City. Day boat trips with the local fisherman can be negotiated for dolphin watching, which is seen approximately two hours boat ride out to sea. There are several Beach Resorts available on the Island offering accommodation from five hundred to five thousands pesos per room, from bamboo huts to concrete buildings with palm trees, some pubs with karaokes and open restaurants. Majority of the beach resorts offer great locations of dive bases. We spent the second evening at Bohol Tropics Beach Resorts offering ocean views from our cottage style rooms, at one thousand and five hundred pesos, with bathroom/ shower facilities and coffee making... Advantages: cheap, friendly people, weather
Disadvantages: far, far away

...Bohol is one of the many islands of the Visayas. It is known for the brown seared hemispheric hills, called "chocolate hills". Otherwise the tropical temperatures let grow palm and banana trees. You can look for the “tarsier”, the smallest monkey of the world with big eyes and a long tail. There are also some old colonial churches and Alona beach at the peninsula Paloa Island is a nice beach resort, with bamboo huts, palm trees and some pubs, restaurants and dive bases. The danger of an attack from the Abu Sayaff is very slight, people are catholic, very friendly and open minded to tourists and Bohol has no tourist centers. The speed ferry boats takes only 1,5 hour from Cebu to Bohol. Don't get wheedled into the very expensive offers, when you leave the ferry. There are still buses in the late afternoon to the chocolate... Read review
