Built a few years ago this gracious restaurant can be regarded as one of Liverpool’s finest restaurants. It is situated away from Liverpool’s Chinatown at an inner city site, just past where BMW Williams and Costco are for all you who live or have knowledge of what I'm on about. As always with choice of food places the outer impressions often are a telltale sign of the restaurants standards. Well let’s just say the Tai Pan is grand in size and doesn't disappoint. As you get closer and closer you get to see just how big the building is. The restaurant is actually built on the second floor. On the ground floor there is a Chinese supermarket with a massive stock area. There are plenty of car spaces as well for customers.
As you enter the restaurant entrance you are greeted with a spectacular chandelier that looks very expensive. Walk up the stairs whilst you admire the fishpond and then you are at the second level where the restaurant is situated. The interior is very modern with a touch of Chinese design and history creeping through. The seating area is massive; easily they can cater about 40 or more tables at once.
With the fancy bits out the way I’ll get to the main point; just how good is the food. The dim sum is very succulent but not the best I’ve ever tasted, however it beats about 80% of its competitors for quality. Here are a few of my favourite dim sum dishes just to wet your appetite and to give you a taste of what Chinese food is like.
Sui Mai Probably the most recognised dim sum in the world. These consist of soft pork coupled with prawn meat wrapped with a layer of yellow wanton roll. They are steamed, as many dim sums are to give it a fresh and succulent taste. There are other variations of sui mai, others include beef sui mai, or Chinese mushroom sui mai. However none in my opinion beat the original pork and prawn varieties. 9/10
Ha Gow These are my absolute favourites of all time. They are nice steamed shell less prawns encased in a tender white rice roll. Simply irresistible. I strongly recommend that you try these, you won’t regret it! I could eat these all day of I had the chance. Just wish I knew how to make them. 10/10(Only if you like prawns though!)
Spare Ribs The name speaks for itself; cooked in black bean sauce these are classics of the dim sum world. The ribs themselves are cut into little one inch long pieces to make them more manageable to eat. I used to love these but I don’t like eating things with bones anymore so I don’t usually eat them now. 7/10
Fung Chiow Basically these are chicken feet that have been marinated with see yip sauce, this explains why they are brown in colour. Don’t be put off just because they are chicken feet they are delicious! You only eat the skin so don’t swallow the bones! One of the under-rated dim sum, these are a must try. They will be different to anything you’ve ever had before. 8/10
The prices of the dim sums vary, they range from £2-£4. This is common in most Chinese restaurants. I would recommend the Tai Pan with no reservations so enjoy! Methinks my rumbling stomach needs some dim sum asap!
Advantages: good food Disadvantages: no non-smoking area, lack of intimate atmosphere
Liverpool’s Tai Pan Chinese restaurant is situated in an unprepossessing location a couple of miles north of the city centre. It’s in a vast warehouse of a building, with the restaurant on the first floor, and the W.H.Lung Chinese supermarket underneath. Don’t be put off. This is a very good restaurant. Just look at the clientele on any Sunday lunchtime: 95% Chinese. And it’s listed in the Good Food Guide. It serves authentic Cantonese food. Most ... ...There is disabled access both to the restaurant and the toilets. And there’s secure parking for 200 cars within the compound, which is patrolled.

Advantages: lots of shops Disadvantages: very large so feet hurt if you dont sit down
the liverpool one is great fully laid out and has every shop a girl would want. i think it is good because there is heating coming out of the floor out side and inside. it is a great way to shop and on christmas eve they reduce all the prices for everthing. i think overall the liverpool one is better than the traffod centre because it is posher outdoors and is not a stuffy and crowded. there is over 1000 shops and are more to come which is good. ... ...why it was very bust in that year bur in 2009 it is not as crowded and it is very good the way it has been layed out. for example 2 JOES 3 STORE ACCESSORIZE ADAMS ADIDAS ANN SUMMERS ALDO ALL SAINTS APPLE AUSTIN REED AMERICAN APPAREL BANK STORE BARBURRITO BARCLAYS BANK PLC BARRATTS BATHSTORE BBC SHOP BLUE INC BENCH BODY SHOP BUILD-A-BEAR WORKSHOP CAFE ROUGE CAFE SPORTS EXPRESS CARPHONE WAREHOUSE CLAIRES ACCESSORIES CLINTON CARDS COSTA COFFEE CROCS ...

Advantages: Centre of town, great for business travellers, cost effective and accomodating. Disadvantages: Underground car parking is limited.
only square with a pub opposite, and so it is very open for when you enter and leave.
Being self-catering I always pop to the Marks and Spencer at the Haymarket for supplies to pop in the fridge but if eating out is more your thing, there are loads of great restaurants around the area; you don't even need to travel far. The apartments are built upon a Japanese restaurant called TaiPan. Hanahana teppanyaki restaurant is just around the corner on Bath Lane. Also, Stowell Street, famous for its Chinese restaurants is a couple of minutes walk away.
I imagine you have guessed that I love the Premier Apartments and if there is one nearby where I am travelling, I will now always opt for the apartment rather than a hotel.
The Premier apartments in Newcastle only opened in May 2005 so I really hope they can maintain the quality, service ...
Advantages: Cheap Holiday in the Sun Disadvantages: Not a 5* UK so don't expect it
once as we found them too busy. We used the Bora Bora restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Try the yoghurt, it's excellent. There was the usual all inclusive buffet but chefs were cooking fresh also. On Beach 1 is a luncheon restaurant which was light and airy alternatively there was a self service on the beach. The a la carte restaurants were TaiPan (oriental), Kalinka Malinka (Russian) and Bambouta (Seafood). There are some extra charges in these so check. You have to book 1 day in advance. We only used the Bambouta as we couldn't be bothered to hang around until 10am to book. On must is an evening in La Veranda, this is an outdoor BBQ restaurant that is open every evening except Friday from 7pm-Midnight and has live music. Very busy though, we queued from 6.40pm and got a table. There us also a Pizza restaurant that does an excellent ...
