Taipei was waiting with nice weather. I passed a gate, which checked my temperature by a calorimeter camera, a caveat against SARS. At the customs clearance I got a Visa for 1 month for free and near the exit was tourist information. There I was offered a free half-day sight seeing tour and I was supplied with a town ... ...with the half-day sightseeing tour. Taipei is a western stile modern city despite of the Chinese characters and the many motorbikes. At first we were visiting the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall (picture above).

Advantages: fun and cheap Disadvantages: hot and sticky
You'll never feel bored in Taipei as there're so much going on. OK, the weather could be sticky and hot but you could always find a cafe or tea room with air-conditioning. Or just dive in a big department in Chun-Shou East Road and enjoy your shopping. Food in Taipei is fantastic and cheap. You could find any kind of food you want in Taipei easily. Thai, Indian, Japanese, American, Germany, French and of couse Chinese. The most great time to explore ... ...evening. All the shops are open until 11pm. Night market is crowded with loads of people looking for food and cheap stuff. This is the most lively place to be. Or you could go to the KTV for a great fun time, singing with your friends. KTV is the most popular activity among people in Taipei. Go shopping in the evening is also very popular for girls. ...

If you happen to be in Taipei, don't miss out the chance to visit one of the best museum in the world - The National Palace Museum. It houses the world's largest collection of priceless Chinese art treasures, one which spans China's nearly 5,000-year history. Most of the museum's 620,000 art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collection, which began over 1,000 years ago in the early Sung dynasty.
