...which was part of the Taj restaurant package, I went on and looked around, the poverty, illiteracy and leprosy does exist but in a very smaller percentage than expected, as long as being welcome is concerned the moment I entered Taj I felt like a VIP, I’m still to feel that way I any other Asian Hotel. I was left flabbergasted at the decoration and the size of the Taj, its lobby was massive and the receptionist and baggage boys were unbelievable ... ...the distinct fragrance of the Taj is something ill never forget. The quality of the food, (any restaurant) in Taj was amazing and the variety of dishes leaves you dissatisfied because you can’t order all!! I attended my conference in the hotel itself and the conf. room was spectacular, pretty much like the massive meeting rooms you see on TV. The Gym and other facilities like Sauna, Steam, etc were a joy to experience as well.
Much against my will I had been asked to my boss to visit India on a marker research campaign and the fact is I wasn’t really thrilled about it, I wasn’t exactly going to Switzerland and it’s true that one has a tendency to be prejudicial about visiting the sub continent. The allies aren’t adored there to say the least and my idea of Mumbai, India was pretty ordinary.
The fact is by writing this review I want everyone to acknowledge that India (at least Mumbai) is different from places such as Iran or Pakistan where an Englishman or American is devlized. After getting of the Boeing I was escorted to a bus which was part of the Taj restaurant package, I went on and looked around, the poverty, illiteracy and leprosy does exist but in a very smaller percentage than expected, as long as being welcome is concerned the moment I entered Taj I felt like a VIP, I’m still to feel that way I any other Asian Hotel. I was left flabbergasted at the decoration and the size of the Taj, its lobby was massive and the receptionist and baggage boys were unbelievable courteous. My luggage was taken to the room and I decided to have a look around, I first entered the Zodiac Grill and was astonished about the fact that it was in the Top 100 restaurant in the world, I couldn’t believe it, its dishes were from the select top dishes in the world and its service exceptional. Then I visited the Shamiana, one of the most famous Coffee Shops in India, I gorged myself on the waffles and have to say they were as good as any ive tasted In London. The pool was pretty huge and swimming laps comfortably wasn’t a problem, the rooms were absolutely flawless and in the executive suite which I stayed in the bathroom were as big as they can possibly get for the price. The room service was very nice too, anything I wanted would be attended immediately. The CLEANLINESS of this place is what makes it so desirable and the distinct fragrance of the Taj is something ill never forget. The quality of the food, (any restaurant) in Taj was amazing and the variety of dishes leaves you dissatisfied because you can’t order all!! I attended my conference in the hotel itself and the conf. room was spectacular, pretty much like the massive meeting rooms you see on TV. My company paid about £110 a day for this place but I can assure you its worth every penny. All the services and products of this place (food, drinks etc.) are the best you can get I India I assure you!!
Advantages: One of the world's most famous hotels Disadvantages: Pay the extra for the heritage rooms - the tower is poor
...Ciao, I wrote about the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers and to this day it remains my worst rated review of all time. Like many newbies I hadn't a clue what I was doing and the ratings reflected that. I have left most of my dreadful newbie reviews unchanged - to remind me that we all have to learn - but after the recent events in Mumbai, I can't leave this one unaltered any more. So please, ignore the existing ratings and give it a read.
== Introduction ... ...Mumbai at the Oberoi and Taj hotels. I have clear pictures in my mind of every part of the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers because I stayed there twice almost four years ago. When an eyewitness talks about being in the restaurant, I know where he means. When another tells of taking a lift to the lobby and finding armed men shooting, I know the layout and can imagine the scene looking out from the lift. In terms of being able to guide people considering ...

Advantages: Good location, beautiful building and cosy rooms Disadvantages: Very expensive!
I stayed here recently and felt that it was the perfect end to a great but exhausting trip around India. I booked into the Tower but was upgraded to the Tiger Club in the Palace which was a nice treat. The Palace is stunning and you should just look up the staircase, even if you can't afford to stay there. The restaurants are heavenly, we went all out and ate at Zodiac Grill, it claims to be India's top restaurant and we concurred! The 'snake coffee' ... ...coffee tasted delicious. The rooms are cosy, remembering that this is a 100 year old building, the architecture and service make up for the room which I felt was on the smallish side. The bathroom is small with a shower-over-bath which I'm not very fond of, but the shower was excellent nonetheless. The swimming pool is a nice retreat from Mumbai's hectic streets.
I'd recommend this hotel as a one-off experience to anyone, not ideally located for ...
