Tampa is a wonderful place. Nestling on the west coast of the florida peninsula it is a largely underestimated place. A couple of small theme parks (Busch Gardens with the largest roller coaster in america) are only a few miles away and to the west the beaches stretch right down to the the tampa bridge.
The beaches are golden fine sand and have a lots of room for sunbathing. The people are very friendly and welcome you in. Bear in mind that you need to be 21 to drink but the bar tenders are not that strict.
From tampa it is possible to reach New Orleans in about an hour or so and the airport is quite quiet too. I drove from here down to the everglades which toook about 4/5 hours but the drive is amazing.
Tampa is slightly quieter than Orlando and might be described ideal for a break from the hectic life of Florida.
