Tankersley Manor is a place that I have been to a few times over the years and it was also the location of my work's Christmas Party at the end of last year.

It is a well known Hotel and Restaurant with a good local reputation.

THE BACKGROUND

From the outside Tankersley Manor is quite impressive to say the least, standing in its own well maintained Gardens and Grounds and surrounded by Woodland the building itself is a rather imposing Stone built building.

The Hotel as you see it today has been extensively restored but it has been built around a 17th Century Manor House that once occupied the location.

THE FACILITIES

Tankersley Manor has a Restaurant, a Health Club and 70 rooms all with en suite facilities. Much of the building has been restored to its original character and there are original Oak beams on the ceilings and Windowsills made from original Yorkshire Stone.

All rooms have Satellite TV and tea/coffee making facilities but room service is also available. All rooms also have telephones and both Baths and Showers. Non smoking rooms are available on request.

Prices for the rooms vary depending on the time of year but start from around £110 per night for a double room, increasing to £225 at peak season.

There is also a public bar as well as the Restaurant, which has open log fires.

The Restaurant is quite spacious but retains character by being split onto two different levels and certainly when I visited with a party of 70 people it did feel like we had the place to ourselves, even though there were other parties in the Restaurant.

The Hotel is currently undergoing some extension which is to be the location of a new Leisure Club that will include a 12.5metre Swimming Pool, Sunbeds, a Sauna and Jacuzzi's. This same extension will also house a further 25 new bedrooms, some of which will be deluxe style executive suites.

THE LOCATION

Tankersley Manor is situated in South Yorkshire close to Barnsley, with excellent links to the M1 Motorway from where it is well sign posted. The address is as below:

OTHER INFORMATION

The Hotel is owned by the Marston Hotel Group and is rated as 4 stars by both the AA and RAC and all major credit cards are accepted. There is private parking outside for all guests and visitors.

The Hotel also offers Business and Conference facilities and also welcomes families and children. There are lifts to all floors and good facilities for wheelchair users.

Overall this is an excellent place and one that I would thoroughly recommend.
