Tapas Ole at Eyre Place in Edinburgh must be one of the finest eating establishments in the city. There are two Tapas Ole's in the city and while the one at Forest Hill is nice, this one is in a class of it's own. I have visited many restaurants in Edinburgh and while the different types of food are nor easily compared the ambience, value for money, service and fun element can be.
For me tapas ole is the best all round eatery that Edinburgh has ... ...would want to try another Tapas restaurant. Try anything from Patatas Bravas to Mussels that are served in a sauce to die for just make sure you have enough bread to mop it all up.
The staff are friendly and attentive without ever appearing to be hurrying you, no matter how busy the place is. The house wine, whether you like white, red or Rose is fantastic and although I have not tried the other more expensive wines in the place I would doubt that ...

Tapas Ole is 5 minutes from Princes Street by bus.
I usually go at lunchtime, with a group of 6-10 colleagues. They can usually fit you in if its a smaller group, but booking is essential for more than 4 people.
There is a special lunchtime menu which costs approx. £6.50 per person.
For this you get a constant supply of small dishes varying from meatballs, chicken, squid to proper tortilla (omelette), gorgeous potatoes and salad. There is always ... ...well.
Vegetarians are well catered for and they will do an equivalent lunchtime special with no meat in sight.
I never have enough room for a sweet and usually finish off with a coffee, but there is good range available should you like to indulge in more calories.
In the evening you should definately book. If you are bamboozled by the vast range of tapas- the staff will choose a selection for you at a reasonable set price.

I love Malmaison's brasseries. The boutique hotel chain's eateries have a really fantastic buzz about them. I think the atmosphere that they have managed to achieve is mainly due to their amazing ability to hire incredibly nice people.
