I discovered the Tariq's category whilst browsing through the many Leeds restaurants, and I am the first person to write a review on this. Having lived in Leeds, the only Tariq's I am aware of and have had lots of experience with is Tariq's takeaway, situated in student-ville also known as Headingley. So this is what this review is on.
Ok Tariq's isn't your usual grotty takeaway place. Situated in central Headingley, across the road from the Original Oak, it is within the reach of most Leeds University Students.
You can go into the takeaway, order your food and wait for it, or they will deliver it you, free of charge if you are within a 3 mile radius and you have spent over £5.
Tariq's also have a restaurant next door, where you can sit in reasonable comfort and eat your meal, a bit posher than staggering back home with your pizza! This shuts earlier though than the normal takeaway which is open till 3am. It seats probably about 25 people and the atmosphere is very very relaxed. However, Tariq's is more popular as a takeaway than restaurant.
Whenver you go into Tariq's I always notice how clean it is and this reassures me a lot. The counter and floor have always been wiped and I've seen them cleaning the windows during the day on my way to uni. The waiting area for takeaway is quite small however, with just room to sit on the window sill and it can get quite cramped once the pubs have shut.
The menu in Trariq's is quite extensive for a takeaway. As well as a big range of pizzas, burgers and kebabs, the main speciality is curry. There are plenty of Indian dishes to choose from - korma, balit, rogan josh, madras and if you can't see what you want, if you ask they usually make it for you. The indian dishes are really good and not too expensive either - usually about £4-5 plus rice or nan bread. All of the dishes are freshly made and I really recommend trying the curries.
Tariq's is a really nice place and a firm favourite with many Leeds students. The staff are always friendly, and will often laugh and joke with you whilst you are waiting for your meal. The extensive menu, and reasonable prices (pizzas for example are about £4) and good quality, makes this takeaway a true gem.
