There's an excellent gift shop with all manner of items, from key fobs to tin toys and t shirts with the distinctive logo of Tatra. It's located in a purpose built modern stucture, which takes a lot of its interior styling from car design: chrome, leather and rubber are materials used for flooring, seating and so on. Exhibits are cordoned off from the public by steel cable, with information written in colour on glass panels reminiscent of windscreens. The overall look is functional and stylish. There's an excellent gift shop with all manner of items, from key fobs to tin toys and t shirts with the distinctive logo of Tatra. There's a number of publications in a range of languages, including English, and as with everything else, sold at prices we found very cheap.
When you're hungry or thirsty, you can take a break from looking at the exhibits at a snackbar selling traditional Slovak food (luckily for us there were pictures of plates of food which we could point to. The staff were smiling, helpful and friendly. There's obvious interest to car enthusiasts, but we were interested by the different exhibits. I particularly liked the massive lorry which had the world destinations on, and the president's car.
Somewhere to stay - at Hotel Sipka about two miles away. This is located up a steep hill in a square, within an ancient village. Lots of houses timbered, with wooden pegs. The hotel was really comfortable; inexpensive with three of us sharing (we didn't use the mini bar though!)
Advantages: Great Museum Disadvantages: Wrong Country.. Czech Republic

Technicke Muzeum Tatra A.S.
742 21 Koprivnice, Záhumenni 369 Location: South of Ostrava.
Open Tue - Sun 9 - 17 in summer, 9 - 16.00 in winter Tatra's works museum displays some great and very funky cars, and other implements of transportation. If you have never seen a Tatra car, you will think that the Edsel was a style setter when you see one!

This is located in the NE of the Czech Republic. If you go, you ... ...part of the world. It is the home to the Star brewery, and is very pedestrian friendly. Another town that that is worthy of a visit is Bratislava - which IS in Slovakia. Ostrava, CZ is friendly, but pretty much not a tourist destination. Ostrava has more tourist information booths per tourist than any place else in the known universe....
Have fun - Central Europe is a great place, and you cannot go wrong. ...
