...Dear Community! For my second review I chose to tell you a bit about the main station of my hometown Innsbruck. I hope you will like it because I gave a lot of efforts to make it as detailed as I could. Let's start:> 1) A short prehistory of the main station: ------------------------------------------------------- 1858 started everything. The first railroad roared through the lower Inn Valley until Innsbruck. At this time the station was far outside the city. The old station area in Wilten was nearly completely destroyed in World War II. Not before the end of war the big main station hall was built in 1955. Advantages: Wonderful, gorgeous scenery

...I'd never even heard of Innsbruck when I embarked on my European tour in 2002. My good friend I was travelling with was wanting to visit on account of her parents' recommendations, so I agreed and was pleasantly surprised. Innsbruck is simply one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Surrounded by the Alps on one side and the Tuxer mountain range on the other, it is quite impossible to avoid turning a corner in this small city without confronting yet another breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks. The city has a very relaxed feel, befitting a locale with only just over 100,000 inhabitants. This is never more in evidence than at the Hauptbahnhof (train station) which looks more like an outer suburb stop than a main disembarkation point. ...All the books and guides say that the Goldenes Dachl is a must when visiting Innsbruck. And while I agree to some extent, you have to remember not to get too disappointed by the fact that for an attraction it is very small. HISTORY: The house where the roof is situated was built in around 1420 by Archduke Fredrick IV. By the end of the 15th century the house was in the hands of the Emperor Maximilian I. In 1500 he ordered that the balcony, complete with golden roof, be constructed in honour of his second marriage to Bianca Maria Sforza of Milan. It was built by the court architect Niclas Turing From the balcony he could look out over the square below and watch dancing and tournaments.
