Sabastian's Taverna.
This taverna is located at the Top Of the street in Agios Gordios about 50 yards down from the Bus Stop.
It is set on a large terrace that looks down the street towards the Sea but no Sea View.
We only ate there once, please take this into account, but we also met more people who said the same rather than those who had gone back.
The first thing that struck me was that you were not automatically supplied with bread, very un-greek. You could order "Bread & Butter" or Garlic Bread.
Our meal. Starters:- Galic mushrooms, which my wife was pleased with. I had the Little Banana Peppers stuffed with spicy feta, very good, but felt the two requests "Is everthing OK" during the starters a little over the top.
Mains:- The lady had SORIFTO, Corfu Speciality, Beef with a wine and garlic sauce, quite tasty but the meat a bit sgraggy (See later review when done on Lithos about food quaity.) I tried the KELTIKO, very disappointing as a KLEFTIKO, would have been OK if labled Roast Lamb. It was a bit "PINK" so had not had the minimum 5 hours cooking that a True Kleftiko requires. The peas and carrotts had been added in the last 5 mins and the lump of Feta must have been thrown on Top as it left the kitchen. Again a further 3 requests "Is every think OK", being True Brits replied "OK", we should be more honest.
The House wine was quite pleasant, so with Large Water Bill came to 38 Euros, one of the highest we paid.
I think this Taverna suffers from the VERY LARGE MENU problem, in Greece think Small is often better as it normally means Fresher and Autnentic.
Like most of the larger Tavernas in Agios Gordios they seem to advertise regualr Greek Nights with live Music, but I would rather have a better quality of food.
