Tel Aviv Vive*
Review of Tel-Aviv (Israel) by MALU

Advantages: not on the tourist route
Disadvantages: pretty façade, partly ugly backyard

The idea of visiting Israel had been with us for quite some time but somehow it had never become reality, the news we received from the media did nothing to actually lure us to the country. But then I read in a review of an online friend who should know after living in the country for nearly three decades that the chances of being killed in a car accident in the UK are higher than of becoming a casualty in a terrorist attack in Israel, this information ...
...at the beginning of May last year and my Whitsun hols did it at last. My country people are the world champions when it comes to travelling, Israel, however, is not one of their favoured destinations, so it was easy to organise the trip, we went to a travel agency, booked the flight and the hotels and four days later we were on the plane. We aren’t pious and didn’t intend to go on a pilgrimage and tick off all the holy sites Israel has to offer, ... Read review

Tel-Aviv,
Review of Tel-Aviv (Israel) by Smiler_1980

Advantages: Friendly people, superb food, sun!
Disadvantages: Risks of bombings

I have visited Tel-Aviv on business on a number of occasions. Often I spend time at the Sheraton Moriah hotel due to preferential rates our company gets through the Israeli Export institute. I advise if you are travelling to Tel-Aviv on business that you make enquiries. The currency in Israel is the New Israeli Shekel (NIS). The exchange rate at the time of writing this review is 8.2 NIS to £1. Take time to check the online currency exchange page ...
...of Tel-Aviv is located on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean. The city has a great beach which is easily accessible and has a number of bars both on the beach and also set back. I advise that if you visit the city take time to watch the sun set over the Mediterranean in one of the many bars that fringe the sea front. Many people in the city speak English and I do not find any major problems in being understood. Non-the less I have began to ... Read review

Tel-Aviv, between love and hatred
Review of Tel-Aviv (Israel) by sheli

Advantages: a modern and old, Eastern and Western city
Disadvantages: To all the politicians, it is necessary to rehabilitate!

Tel-Aviv has been my city for almost 3 years now and I wanted to tell you about it... I've been living in Tel-Aviv for 32 months now, both for personal and professional reasons. Tel-Aviv is a strange city, dedicated to inspire attraction and repulsion at the same time. Attraction for the splendid fine sand beach, triumphing youth over the Tayelet (walk), Yafo (Jaffa), splendid city which signed the beginning of this metropolis, its quasi-permanent ...
...To be seen in Tel-Aviv &&&&&&&&&& The old town of Jaffa """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""" It is the base of Tel-Aviv. With its paved alleys and its tortuous lanes which curve through the massive stone fortifications which surround the city, it stimulates imagination. The history of Jaffa goes up with the flood, and it becomes Jewish city only in 1948. In 1963, it is rebuilt and renovated. Today, one finds a colony of artists there, art galleries, ... Read review

Working
Review of Tel-Aviv (Israel) by shazzykins

Advantages: Easy to find work
Disadvantages: The hostels are expensive

I ran out of money while backpacking round Asia so off to Isreal. Found Kibbutz was hard work for no money and too little time off. I worked in the dining room and the kitchen and I had to start at 6am! Preparing vegetables and if I was really lucky or unlucky I had to gut the fish!!Having a quick break for breakfast then working through to the middle of the afternoon. The work was not very physical but when it is beautiful sunshine outside you ... Read review

Tel Aviv Life
Review of Tel-Aviv (Israel) by Gazza20

Advantages: Plenty to do and see
Disadvantages: a dirty sea

I had the pleasure of staying in Tel Aviv for 6 months back in 93 whilst backpacking around Europe. It was fantastic. Whilst the accommodation was nothing special, sharing a dorm room in the Gordon Hostel near the Ramada Hotel, it more than made up for the cockroaches by the stunning views of the med in the mornings. It was right above a bar which didnt kick off until well into the evening so fridays were a lively event. good thing for me too as ...
...it kept me awake although "Rhythym is a Dancer" did get boring after a while. Dizengoff was fabulous. Full of resteraunts and shops and a great cinema complex. You could eat virtually anything you wanted. Me, I stuck with my beloved Schwarmas. Further down Dizengoff was my favourite place in tel aviv. nothing historic but the M.A.S.H bar!!! like coming home. Sheperds pie on the menu, dart board in the corner and some wicked kamikaze drinks!!! ... Read review
