...We stay quite often in hotels for one reason or another, the reason for our stay here being a dinner at the neighbouring Telford International Centre. I had the choice of this or another hotel next door (which shall remain nameless!), and I chose this one - it was the cheapest - but what a wise decision!
I am an easy-to-please hotel visitor normally - I don't want an iron or a mini bar, I'm quite happy with a comfy bed and a clean bathroom with hot running water, but this place surpassed my frugal requirements... for the price paid, it is lovely. Furnished in a modern style, with pleasant rooms and a 'wet room' style bathroom, for the price, this place surely can't be beaten.
I am told the breakfast is excellent (I enjoyed the dinner the previous evening too much and never made breakfast myself....), and it is literally only a five...

Advantages: Easy to get to Disadvantages: Finding stuff other than the Iron Bridge
..., you guess it, another ancient market town subsumed by Telford!) has very strong links to the foundation of Methodism.
Sadly the official tourism industry in Telford can only see the majestic shape of the Iron Bridge when trying to attract tourists.
However, Wellington has it's own Tourist Information Centre which has a selection of leaflets, lists of local hotels and guest houses and a range of books on local history for sale on Wellington and the whole Telford area.
It is to be found at the Wellington News premises at 2, Crown Street, Wellington, Telford, Shropshire.
The Wellington Library in Walker Street, Wellington, has a local studies section.
Wellington has a market that is still going strong after over 1,000 years, and is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and you can get a fantastic deal on meals at the White...

Advantages: has a very nice shopping centre (from a blokes point of view) Disadvantages: I never will get the hang of that flaming ring road.
...I stopped off at Telford for a night on my way to Bridgnorth Folk Festival ( an exeptional Festival a review of which will follow as and when Ciao has a slot for Folk Festivals). Stayed at the Telford Travel Inn just to use up some old vouchers, the price should have been around £49.95. A promise they make is that should your sleep be disturbed in any way before 7am they will give you a refund and at around 6.30 am I awoke to the sound of a bin/skip lorry as the room I was in was at the back of the hotel.
Although I would have accepted less the duty manager insisted on a full refund.
Shopping, Telford has a very nice new shopping mall with most of the major retail outlets within, when I went the car park had the offer of 20 minutes free, so if you got your ticket back through the exit machine within that time you are ok. Great...
