The best kept secret in Tenerife
Advantages: Quiet, picturesque and relatively unspoiled. Year round sunshine. Disadvantages: Very hilly. Parking can be a problem. Maybe too quiet for some. Small beach.
...Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, both of which are fairly teaming with nightclubs, high rise hotels, neon signage and fast food eateries. To be frank, Playa de la Americas is rather dirty and seedy looking in places - it's really seen better days. Los Cristianos (once a quiet and sleepy fishing village) is a little newer and shinier. However, both resorts are loud, brash and overcrowded. Yet if you are after a little bit of sunshine, then ... ...Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos put you off a trip to the south of the island. Quieter resorts can be found a little further up the coast. Los Gigantes (as well as neighbouring Playa de la Arena and Puerto Santiago) are all very nice and offer almost year round sunshine. We discovered the resort of Los Gigantes over 15 years ago now, and we pop back every few years or so, and invariably find that nothing has very much changed there at all. ...

** Who You Calling A Tramp? **
Advantages: Variety of music, easily accesible, cheap drinks. Disadvantages: most popular club so very busy. gets a bit hectic at times.
...is Tramps? **
Tramps is one of the biggest nightclubs in Tenerife and after being around for nearly a decade it definitely is on the Tenerife wall of fame and has labelled itself 'King Of Clubs'. Whether you see if for yourself or hear about it though the grapevine, people always seem to rate this place as the number one hot spot for revellers to Tenerife. It has no entrance fee on regular nights but this seemed to be the same throughout the ... ...other bars shut around 4am Tramps becomes the place to be at about 3am if you can stay awake that long! Plus with a holding space of up to 2000 they'll never turn you away unless you're crawling on your hands and knees! ** Where is it? **
I stayed in Playa De Las Americas which hosts an array of clubs, bars and restaurants and when talking about the place it definitely seems to be the liveliest resort in Tenerife. Being 23 with the world at ...

Come to the Parrot Park and see much more than parrots!
Advantages: Great day out, interesting, Orca show Disadvantages: Expensive!
...I have been to the Loro Parque all three times I have been in Tenerife and think it is a brilliant tourist attraction and that if you are visiting you must go and visit it! Loro Parque is a cross between a massive fancy zoo, a conservation place and basically a brilliant tourist attraction (and it is advertised everywhere on the island!) My favourite part of the park was the Orca show and this is the best animal show I have ever seen and something ... ...a bit of a letdown! Loro Parque also has the largest collection of parrots in the world and these are dotted around the park in cages which are quite small to be honest. Most of the animals have nice environments to live in though and have space to move around e.t.c For little children there is a small adventure playground with some slides and some climbing things for children 10 and younger. Nearby there is a rollercoaster which you have to pay ...

The Forgotten Village
Advantages: Beautiful, scenic village Disadvantages: Not the easiest place to get to
Masca Village is an absolute must see for any visitor to Tenerife. Admittedly, it is some distance from Las Americas and Los Cristianos, the two biggest tourist resorts. But it is a trip worth making. For those of you staying in Los Gigantes, Puerto de Santiago or Playa de la Arena, you have a much shorter journey.
THE FORGOTTEN VILLAGE
I'll start by telling you a little about Masca itself. The village of Masca is often referred to by locals as ... ...everywhere else. The population of Masca Village is only around a hundred, most of who remain there to serve the increasing number of tourists, largely hikers, who visit. At the top, the village lies at 2000ft altitude.
WHO GOES THERE?
Nowadays Masca is visited largely by hikers. The most common Masca walk to do follows the following itinery. A coach or car drops walkers off at the top of Masca Village, walkers make their way down the Barranco ...

A Gem of a Resort
Advantages: Family friendly resort with a lovely Blue Flag beach Disadvantages: Not suited for those looking for all night clubbing!
Playa de la Arena (or 'Arena Beach' in English) is a small resort 45km (approximately 40 minutes by car) away from the Reina Sofia Airport on the island of Tenerife.
As I have said in a previous post, I have been spending my summers in Tenerife for the last 11 years, but I have been visiting for two or three weeks at a time for nearly 20. The reason is that I have family out there who live in Playa de la Arena.
The first thing to mention about ... ...clubs within walking distance of Playa de la Arena, the best and liveliest of these being Karaoke Bar Tropical, which is a Spanish bar playing loud, Spanish music until the wee hours of the morning. You won't find many English people there, but as long as you can order a drink in Spanish (or at least have a go) you'll be made very welcome and have a fabulous time.
Anyway, back onto Playa de la Arena. The resort is located on the ever sunny West ...
