The best kept secret in Tenerife
Review of Los Gigantes by Bollinger28

Advantages: Quiet, picturesque and relatively unspoiled. Year round sunshine.
Disadvantages: Very hilly. Parking can be a problem. Maybe too quiet for some. Small beach.

...Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, both of which are fairly teaming with nightclubs, high rise hotels, neon signage and fast food eateries. To be frank, Playa de la Americas is rather dirty and seedy looking in places - it's really seen better days. Los Cristianos (once a quiet and sleepy fishing village) is a little newer and shinier. However, both resorts are loud, brash and overcrowded. Yet if you are after a little bit of sunshine, then ...
...Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos put you off a trip to the south of the island. Quieter resorts can be found a little further up the coast. Los Gigantes (as well as neighbouring Playa de la Arena and Puerto Santiago) are all very nice and offer almost year round sunshine. We discovered the resort of Los Gigantes over 15 years ago now, and we pop back every few years or so, and invariably find that nothing has very much changed there at all. ... Read review

Loro Parque - Puerto de la Cruz
Review of Loro Parque, Santa Cruz de Tenerife by HayleyMaloney

Advantages: Amazing wildlife and shows
Disadvantages: Long journey depending on where your staying

Loro Parque is probably the best attraction on the Canary Island of Tenerife. Although the journey via coach from Puerto de Santiago took a tiring 3 and a bit hours to Puerto de la Cruz, it was well worth it. I would strongly recommend watching all of the shows around the park such as the sealions, whales, dolphins and the parrots. The dolphin and whale shows were amazing and I must admit that they topped those of Sea World, Orlando, Florida. Loro ...
...name as the park is based around the hundreds of different parrots they own. If you are on holiday to Tenerife, do not hesistate to visit this park. With animals ranging from penguins to tigers to gorillas, it truly is somewhere to visit as it is a brilliant place for families, couples, groups of friends or even by yourself. Do not miss out! ... Good day at the Jungle Park
Review of Parque Ecologico Las Aguilas del Teide by pilchard1964

Advantages: Lots to see and handlers are good with the animals.
Disadvantages: Some of the enclosures seem too small. Gift shop bit expensive.

...to take a taxi from Parque Santiago 3 as we had just missed the bus and it was about 17 euros, which wasn't bad for 4 of us. The park is in the hills in Arona and, for obvious reasons, is off the beaten track but it was worth it. The entrance fee for non residents is 23 Euros for adults and 16 Euros for children but if you go on their website you can get a discount voucher saving you 15%. The website is www.aguilasjunglepark.com. It is open all ...
...attractions, which are highlighted in the guide, with the first animals you come to being the tigers including white tigers. You then continue past the penguins, crocodiles and hippos until you come to the first show - the parrot show, or exotic bird show. This isn't the usual parrot pushing a bike trick that a lot of places seem to have (although they do have some tricks under their wings!). here the birds fly down to the stage from behind you and ... A Gem of a Resort
Review of Playa de la Arena by staceycav

Advantages: Family friendly resort with a lovely Blue Flag beach
Disadvantages: Not suited for those looking for all night clubbing!

Playa de la Arena (or 'Arena Beach' in English) is a small resort 45km (approximately 40 minutes by car) away from the Reina Sofia Airport on the island of Tenerife. As I have said in a previous post, I have been spending my summers in Tenerife for the last 11 years, but I have been visiting for two or three weeks at a time for nearly 20. The reason is that I have family out there who live in Playa de la Arena. The first thing to mention about ...
...clubs within walking distance of Playa de la Arena, the best and liveliest of these being Karaoke Bar Tropical, which is a Spanish bar playing loud, Spanish music until the wee hours of the morning. You won't find many English people there, but as long as you can order a drink in Spanish (or at least have a go) you'll be made very welcome and have a fabulous time. Anyway, back onto Playa de la Arena. The resort is located on the ever sunny West ... Read review

Watch whales and dolphins in Tenerife.
Review of Whale and Dolphin Watching Trips by pilchard1964

Advantages: Able to see these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.
Disadvantages: Some companies are better value than others.

If anyone is thinking of visiting Tenerife then this trip is a must. I have been four times now with various companies and I would advise anyone to go. Tenerife has temperate waters, which are home to Pilot Whales (and sometimes Sperm Whales) and dolphins (particularly Bottlenose Dolphins). There are a variety of boat trips leaving from Puerto Colon (10 minutes from Playa De Las Americas) and Los Gigantes and they include catamaran trips and sailing ...
...include soft drinks and beer and a sandwich, paella or buffet. They are also priced accordingly. The cheapest I found was Bonnadea leaving from Puerto Colon at 22Euros, but to be honest, I was very disappointed with their trip. The most popular price seems to start at 44Euros. The boat usually leaves the harbour and heads out to sea with music playing. As soon as the first whales or dolphins are seen the music is stopped and the Captain stops the ... Read review
