I went to Tenerife for the first time last March. We wanted somewhere warm and to escape Englands grotty weather. We booked accomodation and when we got to the airport got told where we were staying. We had an idea where we were going as we got showed four hotels between a three and a four star. I wasn't particularly worried as it was with Thomson and usually find their hotels very good.
We found out we were staying in a small resort called Playa Parasio. The hotel was actually all inclusive. To be honest the price was exactly the same for two people sharing and having all inclusive as for self catering. we do prefer to eat out as part of our night out but we thought we would give it a try.
The breakfasts were ok , we could have english breakfast, toast or cereal along with the hams, breads and cheeses. The lunches consisted of lovely salads, chips , veal, fish etc. But the dinner was almost the same as lunch. There wasn't much choice with desserts, in fact i never had one, it was mostly yoghurt or jelly.
After two nights and days of this we ate out.
Playa Parasio is a purpose built resort and had just enough restaurants, bars and shops. The entertainment was very good, in most of the bars they had Stars in their Eyes, entertainers on , some of them were good and some not so good.
we went into Playa Las Americas some days but couldn't stand the time share touts, who never admitted being a time share tout.
They like to call themselves anything but.
one girl wouldn't go away she was very abusive and it turned into a nasty argument in the street.
Just ignore these people if they get nasty. The scratch cards they give you is just a gimmick, everybody is a winner.
Anyway we are going back in a few weeks, only for the sun mind.

We propose some unforgettable holidays in "El Capistrano Villages", in Nerja, the privileged balcony of the Costa del Sol. "El Capistrano Villages" is, possibly, the most beautiful and exclusive Urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.
Advantages: Good weather, nice beach, choice of restaurants, good for families Disadvantages: apartment basic, rep not helpful, harassing by day trip sales people
