A group of three lads it was decided we would go back to Tenerife. For me there is only one place in Tenerife and that is Playa De Las Americas.
LOCATION
Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands and is situated in the Mediteranean Sea. And is somewhere south of Spain on the way to Africa. Las Americas is in the South - South West of Tererife and is a short drive from Tenerife South Airport. Playa De Las Americas neighbours Los Christianos and has a great view of Mount Teide. See sightseeing!
LOCALS
The locals are very friendly and most of them speak good English. Whether this is because the tourists make Las Americas thrive and make the locals rich or whether they are genuinly friendly people, Im not sure but they made our stay fantastic with there knowledge sharing and great conversations.
HOTELS
These are a few of the Hotels in Las Americas that I am familar with.
COMPOSTELLA BEACH is an apartment complex with a 3key rating. A large complex with great entertainment day and night and spacious rooms. Has a row of bars and restaurants on the back and a great place to stay and about 20minutes walk from the centre.
ANDORRA is another 3 key apartment complex and is a bout 2mins from the bars that back the Compostella and the entertainmentis great at night but not so good in the day. About 18 minutes from the centre another good place to stay.
PARK SANTIAGO is a group of apartments with Park Santiago 1 and 2. A good accomodation but does get very crowded and can take the relaxation out of your stay, although for the girls there is Americas Shopping complex underneath the complex!! There are mant great deals to be sought and you can haggle with the shopkeepers! 15mins from the centre!
HOTELS LA SIESTA, BITACORA, LAS CARDENES & PARK CRITODAL are directly opposite the Park Santiago but they don`t have any English staying there so I don`t know what goes on but they are new looking from the outside.
HOTEL SOL is where we stayed and this fantastic 4 star hotel is to be recommended to all and the price is very reasonable as well with the time of year determining the price. The entertainment is great day and night, the swimming pools (3) are nice including a heated pool for the winter! The rooms are big and the staff friendly. the hotel located in the centre!
There are about 90 hotels/apartments there altogether and if you check the orange map at the bottom of this review it show the location of everything. BARS
Playa de Las Americas is famous for its bars and in the centre there is a long string of bars which is called veronicas. All the bars in in competition with each other which dramatically reduces prices! As the clock get to the early hours the whole place gets really busy and the drunks get loud, but hey your on holiday. If you prefer more cival drinking there are plenty of bars in the surrounding areas where the more social people drink.
SIGHTSEEING
Plenty to see with Mount Teide being the main attraction. The peak lives in the clouds and for a few euro a coach will take you there. Mount Teide made Tenerife. It is a volcano that errupted several times since the island was settled in 1402 with the most recent in 1909 which caused considerable damage. I believe that it has no intentions of errupting again but who knows!
The flight is 4hr 15mins there and 3hrs 45mins back. There is no time difference. And the transfer is about 25-35mins Travelling around Las Americas is easy with a very cheap taxi service and plenty of them. Also the Motorway is very effecient and Las Americas is J29.
WEATHER
The weather is alway nice in Playa de las Americas with June, July and August the time when the temp breaks 30 degrees, However being so close the equator the weather is nice all year round including Christmas when many Brits travel across to celebrate a warm Christmas.
OVERALL
One of my favorite locations, with value for money and a geat nightlife. Recommended to singles, couples and families with lots of options!
