On my recent two week stay in Playa de Las Americas in August, I had the worst holiday of my life.
Firstly the amount of police there can be a good thing in terms of safety, but for such a small town there are probably more policemen than the whole city of London. The shear numbers of police I found very intimidating.
Then there are the famous Tenerife "Noise Laws". By law you are not allowed to play loud music after 12 midnight as I found out in the second hour of being in my room. Two big guards knocked on the door and came in virtually ripped the plug out of the socket, took the stereo away and made us sign a declaration stating that if we made any more noise we would have to pay the sum of arounf £100. We eventually got our radio back at 7pm the following evening.
Then there are the power cuts, one evening at 12 midnight, the power supply to the whole of Veronicas was cut. No music, no lights No fun.
I ended up going home at 1.30am having waited for the lights to come back on.
At the time there was a tropical flu in the air, I caught it in the second week and has to stay in bed for four days before flying home.
Im sure Playa de Las Americas has its good points, its just I didnt find any.

I'm really sorry that you had such a bad time in Tenerife. The noise abuse laws I feel are perfect, not everybody wants to listen to some inconsiderate persons loud music all day and night. If you want loud music, then there is plenty of pubs and clubs available for you to listen to it without annoying everybody else. I have been going to Tenerife for the past 5 years, and loved every minute of each holiday. - Thanks

We propose some unforgettable holidays in "El Capistrano Villages", in Nerja, the privileged balcony of the Costa del Sol. "El Capistrano Villages" is, possibly, the most beautiful and exclusive Urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.
Advantages: Great weather, nice people, excellent beaches Disadvantages: Chilly in November/December, too cold for sea bathing, too touristy in some areas
