Situated in George Street in Central Manchester, the Teppanyaki Japanese Restaurant is a real find. This was my first visit to a Japanese restaurant and I was more than a little nervous. If the thought of Sushi and Saki fills you with horror, this restaurant will put you at ease straight away.

"Teppanyaki dining" refers to a Japanese tradition, where highly trained chefs prepare the meal at your table on a large iron griddle. As someone who can’t cook, won’t cook, I was amazed to find that you really get to enjoy the art of the cooking process. Yes, it is true, they juggle with food!
Dining at Teppnyaki is a real social event (not just because there were 25 of us!), the food is fantastic and it is an entertaining experience to watch the practiced sushi chefs demonstrate their skills. At Teppanyaki, cooking is truly an art. Once prepared, your assigned chef serves the food directly from the grill to your plate. It is piping hot and smells unbeleivable.
There is an excellent range of exotic Japanese cuisine as well as some newer styles of Japanese dishes and a range of vegetarian meals. These are well complemented by a selection of wines and alchoholic drinks.
Fine food and friendly service and a traditional yet fresh décor, make it easy to understand why the Teppanyaki in Manchester is a winner with both the locals and tourists. Hopefully someone will save me a seat.
Advantages: Tasty food Disadvantages: Not knowing Japanese ettiquete
the pennies may want to go for lunch. The restaurant is licensed with a wide range of wines, beers, saki and Japanese whisky on offer. The restaurant also boasts a Teppanyaki counter where you can watch the chef prepare dishes and I would like to go back in the evening to experience this.
We enjoyed our first experience visiting a Japaneserestaurant, the food was good, the service attentive and trying to eat with chopsticks provided some light relief too! I would have liked to see other options for starters than miso soup and perhaps the option of coffee instead of green tea for dessert. I would have also have liked some more guidance on Japanese etiquette as I felt a bit of a ninny about using a spoon to eat my miso soup instead of drinking it down. I really hope that Koi lasts longer than Yo Sush! which only survived in Edinburgh for a few ...
Advantages: Lots of things to do Disadvantages: Not enough time, unless your lucky enough to live here!

*Broad Street*
This is a long street full of clubs, bars, pubs and restaraunts. I won't name them all as there are too many and I can't remember all of their names, and I havn't been to all of them. Broad Street contains; Branigans (cheesy music), The Works (lots of floors with different music to cater for all tastes, situated in the heart of Broad Street), Bar Risa, Jimmi Spice (a all you can eat buffet for £11.99 containing Italian, Indian, Chinese and Thai food), Flares (like a 60's and 70's club where everyone dressed up), Hard Rock Cafe, to ...

Advantages: Centre of town, great for business travellers, cost effective and accomodating. Disadvantages: Underground car parking is limited.
only square with a pub opposite, and so it is very open for when you enter and leave.
Being self-catering I always pop to the Marks and Spencer at the Haymarket for supplies to pop in the fridge but if eating out is more your thing, there are loads of great restaurants around the area; you don't even need to travel far. The apartments are built upon a Japaneserestaurant called Tai Pan. Hanahana teppanyakirestaurant is just around the corner on Bath Lane. Also, Stowell Street, famous for its Chinese restaurants is a couple of minutes walk away.
I imagine you have guessed that I love the Premier Apartments and if there is one nearby where I am travelling, I will now always opt for the apartment rather than a hotel.
The Premier apartments in Newcastle only opened in May 2005 so I really hope they can maintain the quality, service ...
