Teresopolis is nestled in the mountains not far from Rio de Janeiro. I like nature and I went there for this reason. There is a National Park there with a swimming pool, perfect combination in the Brazilian summer. I stayed at Center Hotel, which should not cost you more than $25-30 for a double these days. I went once for dinner at Tigre do Papel, a Chinese restaurant, but I would not recommend it since it was nothing special. You have to pay for guide in the park, which can be arranged at the park entrance itself. This is also a good place to meet other tourists and backpackers.
