I should begin by saying that I have only used the coach to Stansted, as Rome airports are accessible more cheaply by public transport, I've not been to Florence, and I travelled from Bergamo town to Milan by train. This review is based therefore only on the Stansted service.
The coach service to Stansted runs to and from Victoria. It departs from the Greenline coach station in the tunnel on Bulleid Way - not the coach station. Coaches leave approximately once an hour, although during the day it is sometimes twice. They do not run a 24 hour service, like National Express - the first bus from Victoria is at 3am and the last bus is 22.30. From Stansted, the first bus from the airport is 7.15am and the last one is at 00:40. However, I've found that these times are sufficient for the earliest and the latest flights, so it probably doesn't matter that they don't run 24 hours.
The run is scheduled to take 1 hour 15 minutes, which is faster than National Express (from Victoria). The coaches are express, and don't make any stops, which is why they are faster than NE. For tourists, the route is a scenic one going past Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Tower of London, Tower Bridge and through Docklands.
The bus stop at Stansted airport is the first one you come to as you exit the airport, which is very convenient when you're running late.
You can book tickets for the Terravision coaches on line - you get given an e-ticket. The booking page is the standard format and very easy to use. You can print out your eticket, and they will email it to you as well. It is also possible to buy tickets from their agent at Victoria. Whilst their website doesn't say so, you can also buy them on the bus.
Tickets are £8.50/£14 return if you book in person or if you pay on the bus. If you book online the return fare is £13.50.
If you book, you can use your ticket on any bus within 24 hours of your booking. What they don't tell you on the website is that if for some reason you can't use your ticket, if you email their customer services department they will let you use it any time in the next 12 months. I had to cancel a trip recently after booking the coach, and I have been told that I just need to email them to let them know when I want to use the ticket and they will make the necessary arrangements.
It is useful to arrive early - at busy times (particularly after the last train) there can be queues and the buses fill up. Here having a booking is obviously very useful. In the small print on the eticket it says that your ticket only reserves you a seat if you arrive 15 minutes early. However, I've found that if there's a queue and the bus looks like filling up, I just need to let the bus driver or person selling tickets know that I have a booking and they have always let me straight on the bus and jump the queue.
I have only used the buses early in the morning and late at night - I find that using the Stansted Express is slightly faster (although it depends on where you live, obviously) and you don't run the risk of heavy traffic. Late and early starts means there is no traffic and the buses are often faster than their 1hour 15 minute scheduled time. The fastest time I've had was 50 minutes. The bus drivers are usually Italian, and I have a theory that they're used to having no speed limit on highways. They seem to keep a very close eye on the speed cameras!
I've used them about 10 times now over the space of around 10 months, and the only time I've had a problem was a couple of weeks ago, when I had booked tickets on the 3.30am bus to catch a 6.30 flight. The bus arrived at 3.30am but wouldn't let people on for 15 minutes. Eventually we found out that it was actually the 4am bus, and that the 3.30am bus had broken down, although they didn't tell us until we asked. That was the journey that took 50 minutes, so I suspect a few speed limits were ignored along the way! Otherwise, the coaches have always left on time and have never taken longer than 1hour 15 minutes.
The coaches are clean and comfortable - one niggle is that without fail the drivers have the radio on quite loud. I've never asked them to turn it down because it's always been an ungodly hour of the day, and my main concern (and theirs hopefully!) is keeping them awake. Occasionally the staff don't speak very good English, although I've noticed an improvement in this respect over time.
l use Terravision because it leaves from Victoria, which is convenient for me, and is non-stop, which is much faster. It is obviously not going to suit those who can't get to Victoria easily. Tickets are slightly cheaper (from Victoria) than National Express, and a fair bit cheaper than the train.
I would thoroughly recommend them for tourists arriving at Stansted and for anyone who can get to Victoria easily.

Quick review of Terravision
On Monday 25th June my 05.25 pre-paid coach from Finsbury Square London to Stansted Airport did not arrive I waited 25 minutes and then had to take a black cab at a cost of £70 as I did not wish to miss my 8.30 flight (Ryanir has a very strict policy on late checkins). Since my return to London I have been emailing and faxing Terravision and to date have had NO REPLY.
Customer service is not very high on their agenda.
Would someone from Terravision please mke contact

Advantages: Absolutely none Disadvantages: Everything! Unreliable, unprofessional, unhelpful, and hard to contact.
My experience of Terravision (July 2009) was awful; they took my booking (and my money) and completely failed to provide the service I had paid for. I rang several times and was told that the bus was on its way and then when the bus was more than 20 minutes late I was told that it wasn't coming and I had better go to Liverpool Street Station and get the train instead! I had no idea where the station was as I don't live in London and had a incredibly ... ...having already paid £9 to Terravision for their non-existent service!
According to their website Terravision will let you know immediately if there is a problem and provide an alternative means of transport if they fail to collect you - this was not at all my experience. I was not informed by them that there was a problem but had to ring them several times and was offered no help whatsoever, not even directions to the station. I certainly wasn't ...

We booked online for the Rome airport to centre service. We arrived to find our coach cancelled due to a dispute with the civil court in rome and we had to seek alternative transport. After numerous emails seeking a refund we were told that they would not provide a refund and that we should seek one from the civil court!!!
Terravision's attitude and customer service has been absolutely appalling. We will never use them again... ...

Never take teravision! They always have problems with the police. So, once I try to return to the airport and they canceled to bus (police said that their buses were dangerous!) So they literaly told me to go away and find a solution on my own to get to the airport... So sharing a cab 30 euros... (split in 4 = 8 euros) was finally MUCH cheaper than Teravision. Terravsion has AWFUL service. They told me to send an e-mail to get reimbursed but they never reply to my numerous e-mails... ...

Terrorvision!! Never ever again. I had a bad experience with them 3 times - twice in the morning in Finsbury Sq ...it is like a ghost bus.. sometimes it is there, most of the times not. We had to pay for cabs/trains and lost lots of money.
In the airport they were supposed to leave at 12 and left at 1am (my ticket was for 12 of course) because they did not have a full bus and waited for it to be filled up. They never answer your calls , emails. Please sue them someone . THEY SHOULD BE BANNED!!! ...

The Website
To book online the website address is www.Ryanair.com.
I visited this from a friends recommendation but for some reason I thought Ryanair only flew to Ireland but NO! Loads of destinations at very reasonable prices.
Don't go to the website expecting 99p flights, as these are before taxes and fees.
It is very easy to search for a flight by going to farefinder. Here you just enter if you want a return or single. Where you want to fly from and to and the dates.
Click on search and in seconds your search results are ready to browse through.
It is often worth paying to travel to a different airport if it is going to make a massive difference to the flight.
Not only flights but on the wesbite you can book car parking at th airport, hostels, hotels, insurance and there is a link through to Terravision for airport ...

Advantages: Good for early/late arrivals, cheap, easy to navigate Disadvantages: Can be extremely crowded, can be expensive to get to
Stansted airport is usually the cheapest London airport to fly from, as it is the airport that most of the budget airlines fly from. I use it regularly. I used to avoid the early and late arrivals, assuming that getting to and from the airport would be too difficult, however I've found that it's quite achievable. It's definitely worth trying out a few 1p 6.30am flights!
I can offer the following tips for using Stansted efficiently:
Getting to and from the airport:
Virtually all my flights leave before 8am and arrive after 11pm, as these are the cheapest. This can make transport difficult, as I don't have a car. There are 3 options for early/late arrivals and departures.
Terravision
I personally use Terravision Coaches and heartily recommend them. They leave from London Victoria and go direct to the airport ...
Advantages: Cheap, clean, friendly, accessible, genuine "Roman" area, big breakfast. Disadvantages: No lifts, not as close to town as other options.
for another three blocks - you should see a large "Trattoria" sign down the outside of the building. It is a bit of a walk, but definitely worth it.
The Pyramid supplies televisions in all of their rooms, but you will have to leave a €20 deposit to secure the remote controls at Reception.
Air conditioning/heating in the rooms is turned off by default, dial 9 on the room's telephone to speak to Reception and have them turn it on.

Arriving in Rome by Ryanair? You will land at the less-well-serviced Ciampino Airport to the South-East of the city.
