This must be one of the best restaurants in the country! Don't think of it just as a vegetarian restaurant. It has consistently imaginative and exciting food and when my daughter's boyfriend came along, someone who normally only eats meat and 2 veg and burgers, he was so impressed, he visited later in the year with a work colleague when he came back to Brighton.
The food has a range of influences but the tapas selection must be experienced at least once and shared with others, but not too many others! Difficult to describe, each selection is a mix of flavours, textures and ideas. A great idea for lunch with perhaps their amazingly tasty salads and unusual breads.
Their desserts are just stunning, luxurious, fruity, alcoholic, chocolatey, in fact something for everyone.
The main restaurant area is accessible for disabled people but the accessible toilet isn't! it is not large enough for some wheelchair users and there are no handrails.
It is very family friendly and the staff are brilliant with young children. There are games to keep them happy while waiting for food and usually they provide the children's food early so they don't get fed up (and difficult to entertain) while waiting. There is also a great children's menu and they will adapt recipes fto suit children.
If there is one concern, apart from the lack of an accessible toilet, it is that the wine is very expensive but as this meal is one to enjoy at your leisure, I feel it is well worth the price.
All the food is vegetarian and much of it vegan, including the wine but it is nothing like any other vegetarian restaurant you have ever visited. I just wish they had a recipe book but they keep their recipes to themselves.
Evening meals have more atmosphere if you are looking for a romantic venue, but there is plenty of space between the tables and the decor is bright and modern.
A must to visit if you are in Brighton but you will need to book for the evenings, especially at the weekends, although early sittings are more available.
