Tewkesbury is a little town located in Gloucestershire, Tewkesbury sits on the confluence (where rivers meet) of the river seven and river avon. Tewkesbury is a historic town, with lots of timber framed buildings and a maze of little alleys. Tewkesbury also has a 11th century Abbey.

There is lots to see and do in tewkesbury. Walks along the river, boat trips, shopping, visiting museums and the abbey. There is a market twice a week on a wednesday and a saturday. There is a local swimming pool, health suite and gym, located in the town.

There are loads of pubs:
The white bear
Ye olde black bear
The albion
The anchor
The britania
The nottingham arms
The george
The plough
The royal hop pole wetherspoons
The gupshill
The canterbury
Wheatpieces

As well as hotels and places to stay:
The bell
The tudor house hotel
Tewkesbury park, golf club hotel
The jessop house hotel
The royal hop pole wetherspoons
Premier travel inn
Purple hotel
and other bed and breakfasts.
Campsites

Resturants, places to eat and take aways include
Chicago pizza
The kingfisher fish and chip shop
The rajshai (indian)
The great wall
Uncle sams fish and chip shop
The abbey fryer (fish and chip shop)
Spicey life (indian)
The hing wah
Prontos (burgers, chips etc)
Blue bird (takeaway)
My great grandfathers
Abbey tea rooms
crumpets tearooms

Also one nightclub
The riverside (formerly known as montells), Which has new owners who have just renovated it.

Every year there is a food festival in May
medieval battle in July
The tewkesbury mop fair in October

There is a regular bus services.
The 41 from northway, thru tewkesbury to cheltenham is every 20mins.
The 42 from northway, thru tewkesbury, thru the wheatpeices estate then to cheltenham every 20minutes.
The 71 from tewkesbury to gloucester is every hour.

There is a nice selection of shops, ranging from the high street names (peacocks, clarks, mackays, boots, superdrug, dp, thorntons) to the small shops.
It is a nice high street with the mix of old and new buildings. It all centers around the cross (war memorial) and there are three streets leading from this (High street, Chuch street and barton street.
Tewkesbury also has plenty of dentists, doctors and a small hospital just incase you require these during your visit.
Over all tewkesbury is a great place to visit and live. Its location provides a great base for the surrounding areas.

I live in the Forest of Dean so not too far away and my great aunt lived in Tewkesbury so we used to visit regularly when I was small.
