The eastern part (the Wadden side) is all year long much quieter, with the possible ... ...the best time to visit Texel is (late) Spring or (early) Autumn.
Like the other islands Texel is ideal for cyclists, although it has less special cycling paths than the others.
If you're only looking for a brief acquaintance with Texel and the other Wadden Islands, you might enjoy island hopping with special cycling tour operators like wadfietsen.nl or fiets-fun.nl (fiets is Dutch for bycicle).

So the best time to visit Texel is (late) Spring or (early) Autumn. Like the other islands Texel is ideal for cyclists, although it has less special cycling paths than the others. But even with a short stay: don't forget to visit "de Slufter", a sea inlet north of De Koog, a beautiful nature reserve.

Vlieland is the smallest of the Dutch Wadden islands and by far the loveliest. Cars may be owned by permanent inhabitants only, which makes the island an oasis of peace.
With the exception of the far western part (Vliehorst) which is a drill-ground for the Dutch airforce.
The only (small) village lies at the south-east coast of Vlieland, where the ferry from the mainland arrives. The village has all the supplies the inhabitants and tourists need, plus hotels, pubs and restaurants. Cyclist have a (small) paradise here with specially built cycle paths through the dunes: 28 kms long.
For sun lovers the island has a vast beach that starts immediately next to the marina, which is situated at 1 km to the east of the village.
