Unfortunately our oil fired Aga stopped working last night and it is our only way of cooking, so after some deliberation we decided to eat out. After reading reviews regarding 'The Thai Garden' in Rothwell, we went last night, 13th August 2008... it was truly disappointing! And definitely not what I would call "Thai food" not so much as a green of red curry in sight. the food was very average and far more of a cheap Chinese takeaway variety than Thai. we ordered two main dishes, I ordered king prawns in garlic and ginger and my partner ordered a spicy fish dish, I couldn't eat either and he was so hungry he ate both I just had the noodles (which were delicious actually!) and the vegetable side dish and a little rice. The pawn dish was like eating nappies cooked in omelets and the fish dish was ok but the sauce looked somewhat congealed and didn't taste much better, plus all the food appeared far too quickly for it to be cooked fresh to order, which is always a sight worry.
Outside the restaurant they have a glass case containing a news paper article complete with photo, I must admit I didn't read it! I didn't need too as the colour and age of the paper spoke volumes. You may ask 'So why did we go in?' and you have a good point! Well we love food and fancied Thai so why not give it a go, is the simple answer. Anyway, we both left the restaurant still hungry and wanting more noodles! Mad as it sounds I would go back just for the noodles but I would have them as a takeaway so we could add them to our lovely home cooked Thai food. So next time the cooker breaks down or we fancy being cooked for I think we'll try 'The old Bakehouse' restaurant in Rothwell as the surroundings are beautiful and the menu looks very tasty too!!!
Oh and cost - for two main dishes, one vegetable side, one rice, one noodles, a glass of red and a lemonade came to £30 not too expensive if you like nappies and goo!

I think you were very unlucky. I've eaten there dozens of times and never had a bad meal yet. Mind you, I did wonder if you were in the right place because I've never eaten there that cheaply.
