Alton House Hotel
Advantages Posh hotel, it looks nice, but...
Disadvantages The staff
I went to stay here in 2006, I think. For my sisters wedding. It was a nice hotel, the architecture inside I knew wasn't real, but it was meant to look posh. Which it did, but only in one room... the reception. So, I stayed here for two days and one night. I didn't sleep on a proper bed, because the room was full in which I was sleeping in (Since its a wedding and all). So in the corner of the room, I had to sleep on a horrible, tiny, lumpy bed. Which can be folded again into a bag. Of course, I can't blame the hotel for the poor bed, because this was my own fault. I'm sure that if there weren't so many people I could of slept on the double bed, which is better.
So, in the early days, considering to be the 1800's - Alton House Hotel used to be a house. Not a hotel. Rich people used to live in this house. It was only in the 1940's that this house was converted in a hotel. So, because it used to be a house - the hotel is quite small. I know that doesn't affect anything, but it would of been nicer and better if it was bigger. Which they had just done, they built an extension on the hotel. It's a tunnel that leads to the old Caretakers Lodge, actually. But in that Caretakers Lodge is now part of the hotel. It contains 4 Neptune's, umm... I think Neptune is meant to be the REALLY posh rooms only millionaires can afford to sleep in.So, don't tell anyone (even though I am writing this review to the public) I (with some cousins) had a quick peek in Neptune Two, it was an empty room with a harp in... I know it sounds really stupid. They must of been renovating it, but I'm sure a millionaire would not want to expect that Alton House Hotel has four new posh rooms, being music rooms. But still, I cannot blame the lack of service for that because I reckon that they were doing something with the rooms.
Now, this is the worst bit of the hotel. THE STAFF. They knew a wedding was going on and they knew it was meant to be a happy time, but the staff were so two-faced, stubborn, horrible, bossy, ignorant and quite weird. They were the worst staff I had ever seen. Why were they even like it? The first time that happened, I was walking up the stairs, in the corridor I had to get to my room and get a camera, when suddenly a woman with uniform on shouted at me. "What do you think you are doing!? You're not allowed to go in there, you should be downstairs with the others now!" I was shocked when she said that at me, but really angry. So I just told her that 'I was going to my own paid rented room to get my camera to take some pictures of the wedding's disco for family and friends to look at in generations to come.' That is what I actually said to her, so she just replied with "Be quick" and walked away. Then, there was another incident. I'll put this out straight. My cousins and I were staying in my room, when I had to turn my back for two seconds, they climbed out of the window and walked along the roof of the Hotel into the next door's room. A man walking along the street saw my cousins and reported it to the Hotel. Then all of a sudden, I was still unaware that they had walked on the roof without me knowing, all of the people from the disco came in my room. I heard some people say "What happened?" "What is going on?" Even today, I still do not know why or how they came up to my room, but then I saw the same woman who shouted at me earlier walked in the room and rowed at ME, and my cousins. I was very confused why she was doing it, but then when everyone walked out the room, my cousins told me what they had done. If only she didn't row at ME and I told her I didn't do it, she wouldn't of put a extra charge on my bill.
I hope you read that. That is what I have to say on the staff on Alton House Hotel. I know I can't blame myself for being a bit naughty, but they were just so mean anyway.

Sounds like this place needs a crash course in staff training - even in my old student part-time job in a supermarket, the golden rule was, you NEVER argue with the customers.
Nice review :)
