Back in May this year , my family and I went on a short-break with 'Suffolk Cycling Breaks'. Our holiday involved biking from one hotel to another in the space of three days. Each day brought us to a new hotel and one of the hotels which we stayed at was called 'The Angel Inn' in Suffolk.
The Angel Inn is located in the beautiful countryside of Suffolk. The inn itself is situated in the small historic village of Stoke-By-Nayland. Upon arrival , we really wondered where we had come to ; it seemed as though we had taken a step back in time.
The inn itself is bursting with character and once we had stepped inside , we felt as though we had gone back to another era ; it really was old fashioned and homely. Armed with our bikes on arrival , we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to the garage in the garden , where we were to leave our bikes.
The garden area is so welcoming ; as though you were sitting in a friend's garden. There were many tables and chairs , although whilst we were there , we were the only ones sitting there enjoying the sunshine. It's especially great for families. I enjoyed myself sitting under an umberella reading a magazine and sipping on a diet coke in the sunshine.
My room was very spacious , with two single beds , an ensuite bathroom ,a television , hairdryer as well as tea and coffee making facilities. I also had quite a large window which allowed the room to fill with plenty of sunlight. My room was extremely clean. We found the hotel staff to be extremely friendly and helpful and willing to talk to the guests. We wanted to know where the nearest town was , and which bus to take there etc , one of the housekeeping staff was very helpful and telling us which number bus was the best one to take.
We only stayed for the one night , and we dined in the dining room downstairs. The staff , yet again were very pleasant and service was quick. I myself am a very fussy eater , and wasn't too keen on the started nor mains ; they were ok ,but quite basic! However desert was delicious! Other members of the party really enjoyed the food though! There was a really nice atmosphere downstairs in the dining area and the locals were nice and friendly too.
Breakfast the next morning was excellent! Service was quick and efficient as well as being extremely friendly. I'm not a big breakfast fan , although there was plenty for me to choose from. I didn't fancy a full english as I wasn't that hungry , but I opted for toast and fresh fruit. We asked for more toast which the waitress didn't hesitate to bring for us.
I would definately reccommend this hotel to anyone who is after a quiet getaway! I myself enjoyed myself and this was my favourite hotel which we stayed at , out of the three. Although the hotel was great , I am not sure whether I would stay here again due to its too 'out of the way' location. I myself live in an 'out of the way place' and so would prefer somewhere a bit more livelier.
Because our stay at this hotel was as part of a cycling holiday , which included the hire of bikes and the cost of three nights at three differnent hotels , I am not sure how much our stay at this hotel actually cost , although I looked on the internet and found that the average price is £69 per night!
*Additional Information * Check In is between 3-11pm Checkout is between 7:30 and 11:00AM There is a free carpark at the rear of the hotel (we didn't use it as we didn't have a car as we were travelling on our bikes) Pets are not allowed. The hotel has six rooms.
