Advantages: Within short walking distance of centre, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere Disadvantages: Bar pricey and lounge area needs refurbished
I have had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for an extended period last year.
Whilst the hotel is due for major refurbishment, the only area this showed was the lounge bar area (flooring). The lounge is comfortable, fabulous large comfy settees, the staff are amazing and cant do enough for you.
Drinks tend to be pricey and the bar menu is limited, although the restaurant serves a lovely evening meal and breakfasts to die for. The continental choice is amazing, there is also the option of full breakfast, which is normally very good, though during the week can be a bit slow dependent on your choice of breakfast time.
The hotel seems to cater mostly for business people during the week , weekends, older couples and wedding parties.
The rooms are a good size and all have ensuite (they even have volume controls ...
Advantages: Near the motorway, wonderful food, comfortable rooms Disadvantages: Nothing to do in Barton
Firstly Barton Grange hotel is no longer with Best Western. It is a Classic Hotel. Secondly it is 4 star!
To quote their rating "A Deluxe 4 star hotel is exceptionally well maintained with deluxe standards of accommodation, facilities and public rooms that offer every comfort with excellent service."

The Barton Grange hotel looked as if it fitted these requirements and so we booked 2 nights B&B for the four of us, over the internet. Later we decided to go a day earlier and emailed our booking ...
Advantages: Close to some points of interest Disadvantages: Not geared up for younger families
We booked this hotel to break up the long journey to Cornwall for our 2 children aged 1 and 3. We were expecting a "traditional country hotel" as per the marketing material however in our opinion the premisis owed its demeanor more to that of a care home. Tired and in real need of modernisation, the decor and facilities were really a trip down memory lane of family holidays long since passed.
The reasons for us choosing this particular hotel were, availability of a cot, baby listening monitors and family friendliness. Coombe cross failed us personally on all counts. When we arrived there was no cot despite this being outlined as a prerequisite, even after phoning ahead mid-journey to double check it was ready for our sleeping 1 year old the sole cot on the premises was in use, so my daughter waitied in the car, at 10pm, until one ...
