Boy A

Advantages: Easy read, real page turner
Disadvantages: Based on tragic events

Boy A As both a film broadcasted by Channel Four and a Book, Boy A has shocked me to the core, its shockingly realistic and naked representation of children in society is not hidden, however it amazingly portrays the other side to cruelty and violence from very young children against other children. Something that I had not considered ever wanting to understand or ever realised how deep and conflicted my opinions could become. I hope that readers can appreciate that this review is not just of a book and is also of a documentary/film and of the tragic reality that the book tells. The Book Boy A is a novel written by a British author called Jonathan Trigell and it was published in 2004. The novel tells the story of a young man released into society after being imprisoned as a very young boy, he has a new identity ...

Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none

I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from ...

Gizza Job, Yosser and the Boys are back, on DVD

Advantages: excellant social black/comedy drama
Disadvantages: none

Boys from the Black stuff, Written by Alan Bleasdale, Directed by Philip Saville This black comedy drama, first hit our screens in the late seventies, I had a few lasting memories of it, so when I saw it for hire from my on line hire company I soon sent for them, three Discs produced by the BBC showing all five episodes. It's a tale of working class people, struggling to make ends meet in the 80's, the days of strikes, and high unemployment. And Margret Thatcher. The main characters, are Dixie Deans (the foreman) Pigeon mad Chrissie Todd, Loggo, if it isn't tied down he'll steal it, George Malone the old man of the gang, and who can forget the crazy Gizza job Yosser Hughes, All make up a gang of tarmac laying rogues from Liverpool. All though they all work for a contractor McKenna, they decide to do a bit of moonlighting ...
