...~~ The Bull House ~~
It was the last day of our holiday and we always like to end our break with an evening meal, we decided to have a look around for a nice looking public house of restaurant on our travels for that day. We had not gone far from our campsite approx 2 miles in fact when we came across The Bull House on a busy junction on the A52.
What first attracted us was how pretty it looked from the outside with its Tudor style black beams across a white background and all the pretty hanging baskets and floral displays. It has two small sit down areas one at the front and a few tables to the side, these are integrated well into the whole ambience of the building. It also had a very large car park so I could never imaging parking to ever become a problem here.
When we are on the look out for somewhere to eat my hubby...

Advantages: Nice roomy pub Disadvantages: Sometimes looks a wee bit grotty
...I like the BlackBull, as it's quite traditional looking, but has a reasonably good sound system and plays up to date music, of the non cheesy variety (Indie/dance).
Its a large, roomy pub and they maintain nice temperature. It never seems to be so packed that you want to scream, like some of the other drinking dens in the area. A big long bar gives you plenty of room to get served, and there's a decent selection of drinks, particularly alcopops. There are tables outside at the front too for if the weather's fine.
It's not as touristy as some of the pubs round this way have become, but the food's good enough and it has a fine location, being towards the west end of the grassmarket. Definitely worth popping in, though your feet sometimes stick to the floor a bit as its wooden and the overspills from Smirnoff Ices can make...

Advantages: Located City Centre Disadvantages: City centre not as good as it was.
...When I was a mere lad back in the 1950's the Bull Hotel was looked on in Peterborough as people would think about The Savoy in london.
It was a place us "Common" people of Peterborogh were allowed to walk past, but not too close.
To hear that someone had been for DINNER at the Bull Hotel put them into the company of Royalty.
But that was then when the Population of Peterborough was about 52000 and there was just one main road going through the City.
52000 at a time when the Membership of Peterborough United Football club then in the Midland League was about 30000.Oh what happy days they were.
Anyway all comes to those who wait and last year we were attending a family gathering of such vast numbers that all beds in the Fountain Family establishments were taken up, even the lawns of the gardens were fully booked with tents...
