Advantages: Not much Disadvantages: Bad mannered and ignorant customers with unhappy barstaff
The Blob Shop is situated on Sauchiehall Street just across from The Garage nightclub.
Now I must make this very clear - I have only been here twice but my first impressions of the bar were not very good.
The were a lot of boisterous people here in this overcrowded place. Thankfully they kept themselves to themselves but never before have I been bumped into so much, and not by accident - by sheer rudeness.
There are only a few places to sit, and ... ...way. The music is far too loud and almost inaudible due to this.
The pub is a favourite haunt for pre-clubbers of The Garage which may explain the rudeness. Perhaps I am being too harsh - I don't mean the place is crawling with gorillas pushing you out the way, there are nice people there and I think that it is just not my scene. I'll see you all in Nice And Sleazy's next door. ...

Advantages: Loads of pubs Disadvantages: A bit dreary, not that much of interest
...other town in the country. I thought that fact was amazing, and persistently tried to drink them dry. Every street has a few pubs on it. Can’t say I’m complaining! They range from your ‘locals’ pubs, to student bars, vodka bars, Chicago Rock Café, Irish bars and even a BLOBshop. Unless you want cheesy student clubs there is little else, and even these have gone downhill in their quality. The clubs include Visage, Ethos, Club Non, some dodgy place called Johnny’s and that’s about it. Back in the good old days at the uni, there was Eden, which they closed down while I was on work placement. I didn’t realised I...

Advantages: Filling, good value for money options - lots of choice Disadvantages: Lots of choice - but almost all of it pancakes
...'m not sure what I was expecting but I got a large plate with a browny-coloured pancake folded in on two sides and open on the others. For those old enough to remember, it was about the size of an old LP record (does anyone remember the sketch in 'Not the Nine O'Clock News' where the young shop assistant taunts the old boy with the words "A gramophone, Grandad"?). There was smoked salmon all over the base and three 'blobs' on the open side, one of salsa, one of spinach and one of leeks. By supplying them in blobs rather than all mixed up together, there was no risk that one poorly chosen ingredient could spoil the over-all balance. As it was, I liked all my blobs and took great delight in combining them in many different ways.
The base was crisp around the edges, perforated with lots of bubbles, looking not entirely unlike a giant Staffordshire...
