Wonderful Warwick Castle

Advantages: Wonderful day out
Disadvantages: Steep prices, some accessibility issues

** A QUICK HISTORY LESSON ** The origins of Warwick Castle date as far back as the year 914, when the daughter of Alexander the Great ordered the building of an earthen rampart to protect the hilltop town of Warwick from the invading Danish. It has been visited by the like of Queen Elizabeth I, King William III and Queen Victoria to name but a few. ** WHERE ** Warwick Castle is located in (funnily enough) Warwickshire, in the picturesque town of Warwick. My other half did actually check that this was so as he said he knew that sometimes places (like Leeds Castle) are not where you might assume they should be. I would advise that you use a route planner to find them as I can never follow directions very well and my geography is rubbish, at least with websites like www.routemap.com or www.theaa.co.uk you get a map along ...

Warwick is the best

Advantages: its the 5th best uni at the moment
Disadvantages: Its in Coventry.

Ive just graduated from Warwick in July 2003 after completing a degree in Sociology. There is a lot of competition for places at Warwick and it seems as though everyone you meet applied for Oxford or Cambridge and didnt get in. I wasn't one of them people however but I was so pleased to be offered a place there. There are roughly 16,000 students there but it really doesn't seem like it. Warwick also has the reputation for one of the biggest campuses in Europe. I started in October 2000 and this uni starts a bit later than most and every academic year finishes at the end of June. Holidays are great, for Christmas we normally get a month off and for Easter it is normally 5 weeks of holidays. There are three terms a year, which are broken up into ten weeks so it makes it really easy to manage stuff in this time as you can time ...

Warwick Castle & new 'Ghosts Alive' attraction

Advantages: Something for all the family
Disadvantages: a little expensive

We wanted something to do on Easter Sunday.I had seen an advert in the local press and on the internet for the new scary attraction at Warwick Castle. Being a lover of creepy things I suggested to the family that we give it a go. The advertising had obviously worked as we queued for 45 mins to get into the car park and a further 20 mins to buy tickets. The place was absolutely heaving. Not a very good start to what eventually turned out to be a fantastic day. Bearing in mind it was a bank holiday and the cars parks were full, once inside the crowds seemed to disperse to all area's and did not seem overcrowded. The castle itself is very impressive, teaming with history and wonderful stories. Helped along by an array of employees in costume - guards, jesters, musicians, peasants & gentry. All playing their parts very well and keen ...
