Now simply called The Tap, this pub looks out on Kelvingrove Park and Glasgow university, and fits in well with the vaguely cosmopolitan atmosphere of it's surroundings. Transport is a small problem, since the nearest underground station is about 15 minutes walk away, but there are buses or you could take a nice walk. It'll do you good, and it'll be worth it. It's not the cheapest place in the world either, but you pay for quality, and this place has it in droves. A wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with great music (indie, soul, easy-listening), great big comfy sofas, a pool table, djs from Belle and Sebastian.....what more could one ask for? One time I was in there they even brought us free pizza! In short, class from the Tap to the glass.
Advantages: Lots of Pubs Disadvantages: Too many to choose from
Peterborough has everything you want from a big city, lots of shops, lots of parking, swimming pool, Catherdral bowling alley etc etc.
But one of the best things is the pubs, both central and in the surrounding areas.
Take for example the centre. You have:
The College Arms. A Wetherspoons pub with a modern yet traditional feel. Serves lots of real ale with 3 different guests every week, lager and good food. This is one of the cheapest pubs in town, with prices starting from £1.37 a pint.
The BreweryTap. Europes largest (as the name suggests pub & brewery). Sit and enjoy a nice pint (I reccomend the Bass) whilst a range of Beer is brewed in front of you. If this gets boring you can always watch the Chefs cook the excellent Thai food, again through plate glass.
Move on to HG's a theme pub featuring you guest it HG Wells ...
Advantages: A good pub with good choice of food, drinks and mix of clients. Disadvantages: A bit of a way for me to travel from Chesterfield.
a reasonably built up area, but it didn?t seem too noisy when we were there. It is the BreweryTap of Nottingham Brewery, which means that they serve beers that are brewed by a brewery either attached to, or nearby. They also stock beers from others breweries, along with lagers, wheat beers, wines and usually a cask cider.
You can get a good range of meals from 12 ?til 2 during the week and from 1 until 5 on Sundays ~ they also have curry nights, chilli nights and barbecues in the summer. There?s usually some sort of entertainment going on, ranging from Jazz and quizzes to games nights.
The pub has quite a bit of history behind it ~ there?s been an Inn there since at least the end of the 18th Century. It?s been owned by the old Nottingham Brewery, Tennants and Whitbread, along with various other pub companies and tenants ...

Advantages: convenient location, superb staff, good food Disadvantages: pub quiz or DJ nights may be an unwelcome aural addition to your meal
getting the Underground to Kelvinhall then walking along Dumbarton Road past Byres Road and Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum.
This was about a 10 minute walk although felt like much longer in the sunshine... once you're past the Art Gallery & Museum keep walking so you're heading towards the bowling green and Kelvingrove Park (non-Glasgow folk of the male persuasion, heed this warning - do not dally around this end of the Kelvin Way at night, lest you be propositioned by other males... and not for tea and crumpets!).
If you've walked past the petrol station and the Ashoka you've gone the wrong way and have managed to get onto Argyle Street. Go back, and go towards the bowling green you daftie!
+ NOW THAT YOU'VE GOT THERE... +
The Drawing Room is now there in place of The BreweryTap... don't ask me when it changed, I'm not sure ...
