Been to this place few years ago... A very very nice place with fast moving pace... Everyone on this street seems very fashionable. The tour guide told me women in Shanghai are willing to save all their money on meals just to get branded wears and at the same time go on diet.

The whole street along Shanghai Bund is filled with colonial type of building. Great historical architecture being one of the richest collection of art deco architecture in the world, housing most of the important buildings such as the banks and the consulates. Every one of the building are still very well maintained since 1940s. The whole stretch is all brightly lit up at night with very nice scenery no matter walking on the street or viewing it on the cruise. Day and night of the bund looks very different. Personally like the night view more.

I feel that the bund is most enjoyable viewing it on the cruise especially at night. With the cool breeze. (I went in october so it was quite chilly) Every angle of the bund is worth taking picture of. Take your time enjoying the scene as the cruise will pass by the bund twice on its return trip.

Another way to enjoy the scene in this place is to go to The Oriental Pearl Tower. But personally I feel that its a bit too time consuming to view the bund going up the tower as I waited around an hour just to reach the peak and another hour just to leave the building. Its too pack with tourist but the view from the top is really amazing.

The whole place will be even more meaningful for those who likes cantonese series and has watched this particular movie series entitled "Shanghai Bund" which is about triad members in prewar Shanghai and their struggle for power and survival. A very very famous series which I doubt if there is any Chinese who has never heard of it. Personally its that series that introduced me to this place.

It is also a very safe place to travel with police patroling around very often to ensure the safety of the tourist. Very often the police can be seen on bicycles and by foot. But even so, its still best to keep your wallets and valuables in front, as there is a Chinese saying, what is in front is yours, what is behind is other peoples'.

What I'm writing here really doesn't do justice for the place. Its really quite impossible to describe this beautiful place with words. A place which is really worth travelling to. I'm quite sure you will agree that this place has picture perfect scenes if you were to experience it yourself. Hope you'll enjoy yourself there...
