Chased Away

Advantages: Impressive Victorian Architecture
Disadvantages: Not up to Expectations

On first view of the outside of this hotel, you are met with a wonderous and impressive victorian architectural sight, which gives such a welcoming feel, unusual from other hotels around this area. The well kept gardens which surround this hotel also heightens your expectations.

*****The Hotel: Outside*****

The first thing which catches your eye is the beautiful oak panelling of the main lounge bar area, which ...
...small reception tucked away nearer the back, which is both good and bad. It is not easily seen at first sight which can both be annoying and uninviting, especially to business guests, yet I do feel that it is put there to keep with the atmosphere of the entrance hall, and it actually works!

The bar area itself is extremely pleasant and welcoming. The seating is so comfortable that you could literally fall asleep in them, especially ... more

Corus of disapproval

Advantages: Looks good from the outside
Disadvantages: The room!

...sampled one or two of the local hotels with mixed results. I had been putting off writing this review because I don’t really like running down a place on the basis of a one-off visit. However, in checking out the Corus chain's web for current prices etc, I find that I’m not the only one to be disappointed. Confirmation is out there, for those who may need it. ~ Log on to the hotel’s own site and what you see is pretty special (for Coventry!). Half-timbered ...
...doesn’t show, the timber-panelled bar. Wander around this site though, and one thing should strike you. There are a very limited number of photographs. A hotel that is really something special should be capable of providing enough views for each page…it isn’t that extensive a site. THE GOOD, & the NOT SO BAD From the outside, The Chace is a picture. It looks the part. As you enter, the mood, the theme, is continued. The aforementioned bar is situated ...

weekend break

Advantages: nice food, ambience
Disadvantages: rooms could be better

I recently stayed here on the 6/12/2008 as I was going to the clothes show. I was with my sister and niece. I had a single room and they had a twin. The main body of the hotel is nice as well as the outside. What is not shown on the website is that the rooms aren't up to what is shown on the website. We had nice food and it's a warm hotel. The meals included were lovely and service too. If they would bring the rooms up to standard as shown on the ...
...prefab building at the back of the hotel too for extra rooms. I wondered if I was reading about the same hotel when looking at similar reviews but it is. when we arrived we had to go down a darkened stairway to the hotel in which someone could have fallen down on, only to find a pathway which was much easier with luggage the next morning. I asked for rooms near each other via a holiday company months ago and when we arrived we had rooms at opposite ...

Poor Service, Badly organised, Room not cleaned,

Advantages: NonE
Disadvantages: Dirty, poor organisation

The Chace Hotel, Coventry Terrible This is with out a doubt the worste organised hotel I have ever stayed with and I stay in at least 4-5 a month with work, to put it another way I am so annoyed I set up this account and wrote this review some thing I never do!. I booked a group for work some via Lastminute.com and directly with the reception. The lastminute booking where payed for prior to arrival however we where charged on depature and had a nightmare ...
...phonetically checking them over the phone) names leading to a hour wait to check in and 45 to check out... The bar in nice the rest of the hotel has been ruined with a horrible prefab annex and the main buildings rooms completly out of syle with the actual building not to mention the noise, cold, dirty room, terrrible food, bar staff who dont know how to pour a pint etc etc dont bother. ...
